If we loan him and he's brilliant we can't afford to buy him

If we buy him and he's brilliant he'll be off somewhere else sharpish

Best just enjoy watching him while he's here I reckon.

I don't necessarily agree with this. At the end of the season he only has one year left on his contract so he's going to be cheaper because of that. So even a good performance shouldn't increase his fee too much saving us from buying the player out of this years pot leaving us more cash to spend on someone else.
If he performances so well that someone else comes in and he leaves chances are same thing would have happened next year if his head could be turned so easily (See Merino).
What I think will happen is he'll play for us this season, he'll be bought next year if Rafa stays and he performances well and we'll have saved a few bob this year.

Still negotiating the purchase option?
“We have a manager now whose eye for detail is incredible. The injury record since he’s been here has been phenomenal and that’s down to his meticulous planning, when to use or rest players. At the same time, he has a depth of feeling. It means a lot. Some people have worked here who wouldn’t have a clue about tradition, about Geordie people.”

We're probably haggling with Chelsea as to who pays for the medical

Chelsea: "Honestly, you can have him for £20m if you want. We don't mind."

Newcastle: "No, no. Let's not do that, please."

Wouldn't surprise me if a deal was concluded to sign permanently at some point in the season, similar to how they finalised the Merino deal much earlier than they had to. I know there's no clause it seems, I just think they'll go back during the season maybe when some more of the cash has come through.
So raise your fists and march around
Dont dare take what you need
I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or i'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name

They'll need to pay of the capitalisation of the drain pipes at the training ground instead, or something.

Why do I get the feeling its not been announced purely so tonight our twitter can either post "Football's coming home, and so is he" or "Well, football might not be coming home, but we know someone who is!"

We'll be forcing his agent to forfeit every last penny he is due before we go ahead with the deal. It's the way we roll.

hopefully its only a loan deal because rafa wants the £50 million kitty for a couple of strikers, and the money from players sales for fullback and/or midfielder.

f***ing doubt it though.

Or Rafa is happy to have him for one season because he's not sure if he himself will be here after that.

Chris Hughton, simply the best manager we had from 2009-2010.

Probably just waiting for the England stuff to settle before they can grab a bit of the limelight. Reckon we’ll announce it before the weekend.

Patheic the way some people are going on like. What does it matter if we announce it now or next week? There's zero indication to say the deal may not be happening.

I get the sentiment of what you're saying but it's undoubtedly frustrating and just indicative of the lack of communication from the club. We've got Kenedy Instagraming photos of the Tyne bridge and that's our confirmation. f*** all from the club. It is annoying.

There has to be a reason they haven't announced it. If it was a done deal I'm sure they would have by now. Perhaps they're trying to agree a permanent signing on fee or clause.

Do we know for certain he has travelled with the rest of the squad to Ireland?

Same thing could be said about the Merino deal. What's the hold up? Could be anything, but we all know it's going to happen. Wonder if the Sociedad fans are getting their knickers in a twist.
