Childish Gambino album out today. :megusta:

It's completely distracted me from checking out Last Shadow Puppets' EP offering.

Been listening to them a lot lately.
Not one of the cool kids, and really insecure about it.

Goddamn the world is a much shittier place without Phil Lynott.

new at the drive in material :frantic:

So raise your fists and march around
Dont dare take what you need
I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or i'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name

It's not At the Drive-In without Jim, imo like, but that song still has all the trademarks. I saw them in 2012 and it was mint like.

Didn't realise they were making another album, hope it's good. Hammered ROC again recently and it's definitely in my top 5 albums, it's perfect.

i think listening to sparta put me off jim a bit tbh

the other two (bixla-zavala & rodriguez-lopez) are such an interesting duo man; atdi, mars volta & antemaque all together and all with a very different style/feel

prolific isn't the word, omar has released about 50 f***ing solo albums as well

The point that I've always made about the whole Mars Volta/Sparta thing is that Mars Volta can go a bit too far sometimes, Sparta don't go too far enough. At the Drive-In is the perfect mix of the two. Jim wrote a lot of At the Drive-In songs that Cedric and Omar added their off the wall stuff to, so he's a massive part of the At the Drive-In style, even if it doesn't seem that way on the surface. Sparta were basically At the Drive-In without Cedric and Omar and you can tell really. They're stripped down, less interesting At the Drive-In songs really.

well summarised

sparta might have been better with a different vocalist as well, never seemed like he had the range for lead, plus as you say it all felt within itself and even perhaps a bit over-produced

I've dipped into their earlier stuff yeah, it's a bit lo-fi for my tastes compared to ROC but it's areet.
