Chelsea's Christian Atsu is close to joining Newcastle on a season-long loan, according Sky sources.

It is understood an option to buy the 24-year-old Ghana international outright is also under discussion between the clubs.

Atsu signed for Chelsea in a £3.5m deal from Porto in 2013 but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues.

Please be true, and crush the mcmanaman rumours.

He is a bit of a perma-crock isn't he? Wouldn't surprise me if it's Chelsea that want a buy clause inserted.

Nice to see we have or are trying to address the lack of pace in our squad.

If we end up with McManamanamanaman because this c*** doesn't sign he will be forever held in the same disdain as him.

Wish we'd just sign a player who's best position is on the left wing and isn't a massive c***.

I'm confused. I'd be really interested to know the basis upon which you've decided he's a massive c***.

An option I'm guessing we won't end up taking.  Played about 20 odd games in 3 seasons hasn't he?

Fair enough, hope he's decent but I doubt he's owt flash.

That'll be that in terms of incomings, I expect.

Couldn't make Bournemouth's match day squad.  Give him a chance though, it's not as if he will be starting every week.  Pity we haven't gone out and spent money on some real quality at the end of this window

Mcmanaman is the c***. Atsu is the one who's best position is on the right wing.

It shouldn't be too much to ask for us to sign a proper left winger

Good stuff, much needed extra option out wide.

Hope we either keep Sissoko or else spend big on another winger to replace him if he goes.

He had some promising appearances early on at Everton, iirc. Going by his performance levels at Vitesse, he should be fine here. Just needs to stay fit. Caught him playing for Malaga once and he looked decent.

As long as this means we aren't signing that c*** from West Brom then I'm all for it.

If Chelsea and Rafa rated him enough to sign him I'm assuming he's pretty good.

Just so long as he isn't De Jong, mark II...

We've already had a De Jong mark II and have just sacked him off to PSV.

Looked good for Malaga in stretches, scored one and had some very promising dribbling/passing v Mauritius in his last international match. Has some pedigree, at least.

Structure of the deal works well, too, I like a good "prove yourself" loan.
