Westworld - Returns in 2020
« on: Tuesday 5 July 2016, 12:53:49 PM »
New TV series starting in October called Westworld, based off the movie from 1973 -

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475784/

Link has the trailer in it.

"a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin"

The trailer looks really interesting. I think this is going to be a hit.

Absolutely love the movie so definitely gonna give this a try. Wonder if Yul Brynner will make a horrendous CGI cameo.

Saw a trailer for this the other day.  Stumbled upon it by accident, as it was just a pop up ad.  Glad I watched it, I think it looks decent and HBO put out some quality stuff.

  I misread the title as Waterworld.  Not sure whether I'm disappointed or not.

Never heard of the film so looked it up on IMDB:

Quote
Westworld is a 1973 science fiction western-thriller film written and directed by novelist Michael Crichton and produced by Paul Lazarus III about amusement park robots that malfunction and begin killing visitors.

  Is it just Jurassic Park with robots?

Westworld is unsettling, though, with the similar tenseness of Jurassic Park for eg. One of those where the datedness of it definitely adds to the charm. Me dad still says to me "give the boy a bib, he needs his mama." (banta)

The main plot is to do with a amusement park (three of them) westworld - wild western frontier town, roman-world - rome and medieval world - middle age england world.

BUT to me, without spoiling the film, if you watch it closely - there is the theme of dependence on 'technology' - and what happens when it let's you down.

Good film.

Looks class but looks like a one or two season series to me. I can't see this sort of thing lasting too long without turning absolutely s****.
