That's been theorised for a long time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transatlantic_tunnel

"The main barriers to constructing such a tunnel are cost with estimates of between $88 billion to $175 billion"

So not much more than HS2 according to wikipedia.

I’d love to see what that route looks like, such a nerd for things like this.

Anyone know of a map for this?

Nothing in comparison, but there used to be a bus that went from London to Athens and back, called 'The Magic Bus'. I got it in 1991 after a summer working in Greece. Route was Athens-Yugoslavia-Austria-Germany-Belgium. Yugoslavia  was interesting.

We never had to show our passports, except when boarding ferries, and in the middle of a vast forest in yugo. when we were stopped at a military checkpoint. Two passengers didn't continue the journey.

I should imagine the other bus took a similar route but carried on through Bulgaria then Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan then on to Pakistan/India (not really any other choices). Hell of a journey.

I went to Yugoslavia on holiday when I was 5 in late 1990 (war kicked off shortly after) on a massive bus trip.

Barely remember anything, but went with my Single Mother, and my brother, and her best friend and their 2 daughters and son.

Really gutted I lost the photos in a house move, because they were class.

You can roughly work out the route from the poster

Salzburg - Vienna - Bulgaria - Istanbul - Caspian Sea - Tehran- Kabul - Delhi - Agra- Kolkata

Canny journey.

I drove from Newcastle to Naples without a passport once. Only place I had any bother was getting on the ferry on the way back. The French guy working the barriers at Dover just laughed at the fact I'd left it at home and waved me through.

s*** myself at every border crossing but neither the French, the Swiss or the Italians gave a f***. Just the English in Calais on the way back.
