That the Germans in WWII genuinely thought about building this.

But...6 in a row. But...Calciopoli.

Blackpool didn't get bombed in WW2 because Hitler wanted a holiday home there.

WW1 was absolutely f***ed.

Aye it's mental it got a sequel.

Rumors that they're working on making it a trilogy.

Then the inevitable reboot in 1000 years.

:yao: We'll all be dead in 1000 years.

Unrelated, but I genuinely feel sick to my stomach thinking about the fact that we're likely one of, if not the last, generation that won't get a chance to extend their lives by many years through the new scientific developments. (Unless of course nuclear war ends us all anyway).

 Life would suck if it was for eternity. Enjoy life instead.

I don't want eternity, I want another 20 good years added in the sweet 25-35 spot before old age gets you
Wait till your 50, you'll realise the sweet spot is a mindset, not an age.
Bullshitters misrepresent themselves to their audience not as liars do, that is, by deliberately making false claims about what is true. In fact, bullshit need not be untrue at all.

Rather, bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.

Wasn't the main reason his invasion plans re: paratrooper deployments and future military bases?

I was going to ask if the source was an episode of Dad’s Army.

The source was Wikipedia.  I wasn't arsed enough to fact check it.

Just the gas generator on a Saturn V F-1 engine produces more thrust than an F16 engine at full afterburner.  The turbine just to run the fuel pumps puts out 55,000 horsepower.

Big engine.

The guy who played Jack O'Callahan in the film "Miracle" - about the "Miracle On Ice" - only appeared in a couple of films afterwards, then signed up and became a Green Beret, and was awarded a number of medals.

He killed himself last year. He was 35. Married with two kids.

I really wish I hadn't learned it.

In happier news, I also watched Ghostbusters for the nth time, and somehow only just learned that (a) Reginald VelJohnson is the cop that lets the Ghostbusters know the mayor wants to see them and (b) there’s a pack of Stay-puft marshmallows (with the man on) next to the eggs that fry on the worktop.

This made me learn something else today...

His last name is the past participle of the Italian verb "mantenere," which means "to maintain."

Ironically, that's the one thing he didn't do.
Whether it's God or the bomb
It's just the same
It's only fear under another name
And the corporate snakes coming in to feed
On that pathetic fact known as human greed
Skin and bone being raked over those hot coals
This dump never seems to give time for human soul

David Puttnam was offered a screenplay for A Clockwork Orange, he sent it to the BBFC to see whether it would get through. They returned it, unopened, with a note saying "We Know the book, we do not need to read the screenplay, because it involves youthful defiance of authority, and we're not doing that".

Then they let Grange Hill go ahead.

The Gustav there had an upgrade planned, which was directly inspired by that Ratte Tank concept. Both utterly ridiculous.
