 Carroll has been utter s*** for years. The only good spell in his career was the year and a half before going to Liverpool and a year of that was in the Championship. I honestly cant believe hes only 30.

He's showed he is utter s*** in the minutes he's played for us. It's hilarious some people want him to start.

Looks like his body has given up the ghost and he's lost all his physicality. As soon as someone makes contact with him he's off balance and tumbles to the floor.

Hope he starts on Saturday.

I do, so people will see he's absolutely finished.

What sort of threat could Andy Carroll possibly pose the Manchester f***ing City defence?

Regardless of how utterly s**** the options are - Joelinton, Carroll, Gayle, Muto, shifting ASM - Andy Carroll must be the worst option against whichever billion pound player they pick on the day.

He could conceivably go an entire match (or until getting hooked) without touching the ball with his feet.

I'm pretty sure he cannot start a Premier League game.  And if he does by some miracle, he won't make the distance.

Makes it the worst signing of the summer imo. When we signed Mitrovic we at least had Cisse who could still come in. Absolute disgrace that we went into the season with only Joelinton with a realistic chance of being fit most of the season.

I bet in January you’ll see the likes of Palace, West Ham & Everton all going for Giroud. He’d be perfect but we’ll not even be in the running.

If he encourages us to play nothing but long ball and hit all freekicks as set penises, I don't want him in the team. It may have worked yesterday, but it's not what I want to see.

Did 3 good headers and that was it really. Can't play on floor.

3 is generous.

He's a f***ing carthorse whose absurdly poor performance is masked by successfully doing his job a single time.

We've been doing that even when Gayle or Joelinton are playing tbh. Bruce seems to have no coaching ability at all.

Is the correct answer.

Quote
Carroll started his first Premier League game for Newcastle in eight years and 342 days - the second longest run between starts for the club in the competition after Pavel Srnicek (nine years, 62 days), and the seventh longest gap between starts by any player at a single club in the competition's history.

Any idea who the others are? Can only think of Rooney and Jagielka, must be missing some really obvious ones

Ben Foster at Watford might be one. Fowler at Liverpool too?

I don't think you read the question properly Greg

Lee Clark I think is correct - or close (1997 then 2005) , Robbie Elliott I agree was shorter.

Edit: yes I have misread it completely.

The BBC have already said Carroll is a longer period of time than Clark

No

We're looking for 5 players (we've already got Pavel) who have had a longer gap than Carroll between starts at the same club

EDIT: Greg keeps deleting his posts ffs
