Still got a loft full of old Makina and italodance records. I'll be honest it's like a secret guilty pleasure, but some of the tracks are amazing tbh.

Nowt wrong with that, some tunes are awesome.  Still have all of mine in our spare room (I was never a seller), they get fired up once in a while and I love it.

Pet hate of mine when people ask 'not grown out of that yet?'.... Well no, I actually like it... If I'd 'grown out of it' it probably means I never liked it in the first place.

I think it's due to its connotations to new monkey/after dark etc. and that is viewed as purile and immature. Most peoples exposure is either through that or some little doyles speeding tracks up to light speed.

But these tracks have been banging out since the early 90's for the best part and are legitimate tracks in their own right.

Aye. The a lot old 90s Italian tunes (including the faster stuff) are tremendous.  You'd be hard pushed to find better dance music producers than the likes of Braccagni these days.

I'll be honest some of the best nights of my life were in places like the monkey, I still get a similar buzz at the new places, Monta, Histeria or whatever. Unfortunately the all nighters are gone (watch this space..)

If you listen to 90's italodance compared to the 'dance' music released at the time, there's only one that wins hands down production wise.

Makina/italodance/Germantrance is associated with radgies so people look down upon it, to the contrary its a scene that lives well & lives on, it wont die. Its the music of many youths,  from Glasgow to Liverpool to Barcelona to Paris, ending up here in the North East of England.

Sorry for derailing the thread but stigmas need to be broken.

Also good guess I cant remember who from

Not to derail the thread further but I reckon a claim that production-wise this stuff was in advance of all other dance music maybe calls for further evidence in a different thread. The Orb and Dreadzone and Aphex Twin and KLF, for example, say hello, though I accept the distinction between those and 'dance' :) also accept that association with radgies has typecast things somewhat

I mean it’s kind of cool they love it and people have fun and fascinating. But those nights look like a fresh hell 😄
