Facilities for the blind
« on: Saturday 29 December 2012, 12:46:07 pm »
Hi lads

After some advice. The brother-in-law (who is blind) is coming to the Everton game with me, his daughter and the father-in-law. He's wondering if he would be able to fetch his guide dog in with him - am not sure? Advised him to see if he can get an FM radio app for his iPhone, so at least he will get some commentary.

We are gonna be in the Leazes/East Stand corner - not sure what facilities the club has for blind supporters?

I believe there are specialist seats for the blind/visually impaired which have a radio type thing you can plug into to get commentary, not sure exactly how it works though though.

I've actually been with a blind man before but he was a regular match goer and was accustomed to just going in a group of people who'd look out for him and he'd take his own radio along.

Have you got tickets already? You need to ring the club if not and they will help you out.

St James' Park has 24 seats for the blind and visually impaired, each seat has an infrared commentary system so you can listen to the game.

Not sure on the dog, but I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem.

Already got our tickets, Greg. Was probably for the best that we all sat together. I'll ring the club on Monday morning.

And cheers Jill as well.
