They should do this with the world cup! Games on all seven continents!

:suicide:

Sounds to me like the UEFA heads had a sudden realization: "wait a minute, instead of taking bribes from ONE country, we could take bribes from ALL the countries!!"

Only just seen this. What a terrible idea. This better be a one off like (mind you, wouldn't put it past UEFA to insist on another one after 2020).

I'd find it absolutely awkward like if I were in a host city and my national team's playing somewhere else.

Wonder if France will be excluded from this horseshit then?

Uefa may prefer the final at Euro2020 to be played at a location neutral to both finalists. Wembley is current favourite

Euro 2020 news: planners set to decree 13 host cities must each be served by two airports. Means Cardiff will struggle...

6m Martyn Ziegler ‏@martynziegler
Euro 2020 cont: will be 2 stadiums of 30k minimum capacity, 6 of 50k, 4 of 60k for 1/4finals and one of 70k-plus for semis and final.
Details

Martyn Ziegler ‏@martynziegler
Dublin, Glasgow and London Euro 2020 bids unaffected by airports issue. London, Istanbul, Madrid, Rome, Berlin likely to tussle for final.

Before that why didn't the Wigan fans just walk the the Stewart's, the Stewart's only went up to the touchline, their was a big gap between the end of the Stewart's and the stand they could have walked through.

That's shameful, plenty of major cities only have 1 airport, and plenty of others only have 1 international and smaller regional airports.

I was hoping we would put a bid in even if it was for a group game between San Marino and Andorra.

That rule though is preventing cities that could host a game but not a tournament from bidding.

this one i'm not sure i dislike...europe's so connected with cheap flights, trains and roads it's infinitely more fathomable than f***ing qatar for the WC
So raise your fists and march around
Dont dare take what you need
I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or i'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name

Both Madrid and Barcelona only have one airport serving them, besides some regional ones that are a bit afar from the cities themselves, this is ridiculous

why do UEFA want to ruin their own tournement, bad enough they increased the size of it which is going to reduce the quality but this s*** about all over europe without consideration as to the cost of supporters following their team, then again f*** those peasants we bigwigs want to party in every major european capital! sigh

It'll be held in the likes of London, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Milan, Rome, etc. Boring and pathetic. Smaller, regional cities won't get a chance like they would if the tournament were held in a single country.

I quite like this idea actually, especially with it being a one-off. Maybe it should be limited to Western Europe though.

Bids submitted - http://www.uefa.com/uefa/aboutuefa/organisation/executivecommittee/news/newsid=1998214.html#thirty+fas+considering+euro+2020+bids

(Only London offered by the FA, poor form).
As if they were going to offer anything else.

Manchester might have been offered if it wasn't for the 2 airports per city rule.

Same here, I think it's a decent idea.  Aye, it takes away a country's chance of hosting it but YOLO.

Nice if Glasgow got it. Two airports (Edinburgh only an hour away too) and two huge stadiums. Always do well with getting big sporting events (not least commonwealth games next year) and it's all been funding some mega-development. Also won't need to go to Ireland since we're the same but with less alcoholics, criminals and Irish people.

Euro 2020 - Report: Brazil could play in European Championship

UEFA president Michel Platini wants to invite non-European teams to compete in the European Championship in the future, a report claims.
The Independent on Sunday reports that sides like Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Japan could be invited to the tournament as early as 2020.
The tournament increases to 24 teams in 2016 but by inviting non-Europeans, UEFA believe they can make the competition a genuine rival to the World Cup.
The Independent's report says that the plans are still being finalised, let alone approved, but they quote a senior adviser to Platini as saying: "The ideas are at an early stage but they are very feasible. The South Americans have been doing it for decades, inviting teams from outside their continent to take part in the Copa America. So why cannot Europe?”
Since 1993, the Copa America have invited countries from outside of South America into the competition.
Mexico and Japan have both been invited to compete in the next edition in Chile in 2015.
The report says that the idea is "another sign of the growing rift between Platini and FIFA's president, Sepp Blatter."
Platini's adviser says: "Many in FIFA are talking of cutting back Europe’s power, reducing the number of European teams in the World Cup (currently 13 out of 32 in 2014) and also our representation on the FIFA executive (eight out of 24).”
Platini has already got the go ahead for a radical new idea for the 2020 European Championship which will be hosted in 13 cities around the continent as opposed to all being hosted in one or two countries.
32 countries have since declared an interest in hosting matches in that tournament.

Platini being f***ing clueless as f***ing always then! Needs to revisit the classroom and take part in Geography lessons again. Might as well send France to the Asian Cup too and see how feasible it is.
