A real shame we couldn't convince Merino to stay.  So much better than the likes of Shelvey - we could have really built a team around him.

Yeap, however I do think he's playing much better now as he got homesick a lot when he was with us and Dortmund.

9 years since Santon signed.

He's still not been replaced either.

The timing was rubbish. He should have been ‘moved on’ 3 months earlier when Chelsea & Liverpool went from Ranieri & Houllier to Mourinho & Benitez, or should have been left to see the season out and replaced the following May.

That’s probably the first time I ever felt sorry for an opposition player. He was absolutely rinsed for 90 minutes. Ginola destroyed him.

john gibson in the chronicle this afternoon;
"John Carver has talked of playing two up top in an effort to score goals, tactically be more direct to grind out points, and just about every other possibility known to man or beast. They are the ramblings of a drowning desperado."

Remember that well. Total humiliation. Ginola was untouchable that game.

The next year Cox gave a penalty away against Ginola too.

28 since the Bristol Rovers 2-1 win. Was literally just a bairn at the time but remember this game as it’s the first time I’d ever seen a player given a 10/10 rating (Tommy Wright) in the paper.

What a man. Honestly.

There will never be another like him, and certainly not in the way the game is today.

I like Wilson and reckon he will score a decent number for us, but I'd take Rondon back any day

2013 and P45due breaks a 41 year hoodoo today by beating Manure at Old Trafford.

What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.
