People walking away from explosions in slow motion without looking back has to be the biggest cliche in film.

But only in their dreams can men be truly free. It was always thus and always thus will be.

I don't really know why, but sometimes I find myself swearing in German...

Me too! I love scheiße, man.

I always think, if someone puts a burning thing through our letter box, and it spreads fast... how will I escape?  The windows don't open far enough, and we have double glazing.  Granted, this can be smashed. But it is then a 2 storey drop. Obviously worth it.  But then I think, what if I wasn't in, and only my girlfriend was.  Could she smash the window? If not, where could I tell her to stay that would be safest?  Close all doors, put the blankets by the door and hide in cupboard.  Wait for the firemen. Damn my heads odd.

Hide in a cupboard?

"FIRE!"
"Quick! Into the cupboard!"

It is one of those mirrored wall ones, so wouldn't burn as quick.  There's logic to this.

Wouldn't it still fill up with smoke?

You know you can solve all of this by buying a fire extinguisher and teaching her how to use it.

Hide in a cupboard? Did no-one ever see that episode of Come Outside when she got stuck in the pantry with the chip pan on? Silly idea.

Of course, even more silly is the notion that Pippin ran all the way to the fire station, barked twice, and the fireman standing outside understood that as "There's a fire at Auntie Mabel's house!"

Maybe the fireman recognized the dog, saw the smoke and put two and two together.

I haven't seen that show, though. So I might be talking s***. Sounds like a fake ass Lassie, though.

I'm sure the fire station was ages away though. And what sort of firemen see a dog barking and think "fire!"?

This is a moot point because its a show for f***ing children in which a porky lady and her dog fly around in a biplane.

I have these random thoughts everytime i see a plane fly over about what it would look like and feel like if it just suddenly exploded.....been watching too much aircraft investigation

I do this, mostly with helicopters though. We get loads that fly over our office block and I always wonder what would happen if it just fell out of the sky onto us. Well, I'd probably die, but I mean apart from that.

Seriously Matty, don't tell her to hide in the cupboard. If the place is thick with smoke the Firemen will find her easier if she isn't in the cupboard. Go out and get a couple of smoke detectors too, and check the batteries each week.

I can remember sitting on the carpet in first school watching Come Outside, and in the opening titles where she'd lock the house up, say "Come along Pippin" and then start the plane up, everyone would get up and run round waving their arms in circles going BRRRRRR, BRRRRR pretending to be the plane.

Viva la Vida is a genius song to use for a video summarizing the one time in history Norway was a canny national team. Well done TV2, almost made me tear up.

I have a weird shoulder tick when I'm driving. Nobody has said anything for years. But I know they know. I worry it gives them a window into the workings of my mind. w*****s.
