I am not sure if Webster has that killer touch. What do you think of Whitlocks chances? Got to be in with chance much more than the world number 2 aka James Wade.

Whitlock is always a strong shout as he seems to be able to take out high finishes on a regular basis. Wade has been playing well though and I think given his draw that he should easily get to the semis. The other players all seem a little hit or miss. Barney, we all know can be brilliant but equally can fall to pieces and then there are a lot of outside bets who can play some great darts if they go on a run of form. The likes of Webster, Anderson, Lewis, King etc can all produce.

Mardle's form has been in freefall for a long time now, no longer has a ranking high enough to get in automatically I think.

He is horrendous like but it would be nice if he somehow gained a free pass so he could lob his inflatable bananas about.

Another good game here, the Pieman is such a finely sculpted creature.

Not sure if you have been living under a rock chap but Mardle lost his right arm in a freak car accident about a year ago.  Accident similar to that one-armed drummer with Def Leopard in a car accident except Mardle was being a dick.  F*cking tragic way for your career to end but that's what happens when you f*cking drink drive, hit over 100mph and think it's funny to lob darts out of the car window at passers-by.  Idiot lost control and took his arm clean off.  Reckon he's playing again with a prosthetic arm but it'll takes ages for him to get back to what he was i reckon.  Poor b******.

Shocked to see James Wade lost last night, not sure how I missed that news.  Makes Barney's side of the draw look rather easier.  Taylor should have a tougher run to the final, with Webster in the quarters and Whitlock in the semis if it goes to plan.

Because he's s***.

That's pretty much the size of it. He lost his qualifier. The spell he had out of the game due to illness at the start of 2009 saw him fall down the rankings and he hasn't ever really been able to find form again.

He's really struggled over the last few years. Pretty much since he beat Taylor at the Worlds and then threw the next game away to a qualifer, Kirk Shepherd I think. That just about summed him up and he's been poor ever since. Shame as he was one of my favourite players.

Van der Voort vs Whitlock just finished, was a cracking match. Loads of 100+ and then some really shoddy finishing, both players blew chances to win/save sets and Whitlock had six darts at 81 to save the match and fudged it.

Lewis looked good earlier today but can't look much further than Anderson at the minute. Averages of 103, 103 and 108 so far.

Webster's sneakily creeping along. Taken a while for him to settle since he switched over but he's a decent player and has looked solid. Saying that mind it's all about he performs in the big matches against the likes of Taylor etc.

Anderson Taylor final for me and I fancy an upset!

Aye, the little welshie has looked comfortable in his games so far, but he has Taylor in the QF. Even an off-form Taylor is too good for the majority of players, especially at the World Championships, so it'll really show if he has what it takes to sit at the top table.

The trouble with beating Taylor though, as Mardle found a couple of years ago, is keeping that level up in the next round. It is almost harder than actually beating him.

Barney thrashed 5-1 by the in-form Anderson, who joins Lewis and Jenkins in the Semis.  Webster has taken the first set against Taylor.
