Stewart Lee at #41 must be a call back to his '41st best stand up' tour because he surely deserves to be top ten at least. Quite why they have TV shows like People Just Do Nothing in there is baffling, you might as well include Peep Show (Neither Mitchell nor Webb appearing? Really?)

#'s 23 and 21 particularly. I'm not sure what it is Tig Notaro or Hannah Gadsby actually do but it isn't comedy.

Gadsby's 'Nanette' surely stretches the definition of what stand up comedy is....it was more like a cross between an empty-chair therapy session and a TED talk. Tig Notaro falls slap-bang into the box marked "things Guardian readers should like regardless of her actual content, which isn't actually funny but shhh"

In short: Vic & Bob, Lee and Kitson too low, Acaster waaay too high at #4 and there are about 10 who shouldnt even be on the list...in my humble (but correct) opinion.

As much as I love Vic and Bob, they peaked in the 90s.  They'd probably be top 5 if it was best comedians of the 20th century.

Just Bob then!

Anyone at Ben Elton last night at the Tyne theatre?

A lot better than anticipated.....I'll go so far as to say, as good as he's ever been (stand-up wise). Odd dig at Rowan Atkinson tho, but fair enough given their difference in political stances.

there were some unhappy faces during that like
So raise your fists and march around
Dont dare take what you need
I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or i'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name

"Our next presenter stared in Netflix' Birdbox. A movie where people survived by acting like they don't see a thing. Sort of like working for Harvey Wienstien. You lot did it! I didn't, you did so shut the f*** up!   Please welcome Sandra Bullock..."

Sounds like he had a good night.

Nish Kumar ahead of Stewart Lee. The man is an absolute shocker.

Agreed, he is a man who finds himself waaaaay funnier than anyone else does.

Really enjoyed Ronny Chieng's set on Netflix.

He's the guy who does those painfully unfunny pieces on the Daily Show isn't he?
It put me off watching it.

Not sure. He didn't seem funny for the first five minutes or so, and he's not a person I would say is that funny, but the set feels really well crafted and pays off.

Ricky is class like. It's funny because they all hate him but dont want to say anything because he will tear them to shreds.

"Thank whatever god you believe in and f*** off!" Slayed me.
Sir Bobby Robson: “What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

Waiting for Rob Beckett to come on, not really my choice but it was all Mrs B could get me for x-mas, stand up show wise.

Trying to get tickets for someone you want to see more is nigh on impossible, everyone sells out in seconds.

Saw them a few years ago.  Was amazing seeing the Stotts in person.
