Williamson was an indictment of Ashley's NUFC, but I'm stoked for him to get the player-manager gig. It's horrible seeing clubs fall over no matter where they are in the world, and even though he was s**** for us, I hope Williamson does some great work at The Heed.

They've re-signed JJ O'Donnell on a year's contract. If nowt else, it looks like it's just continuing to boost morale - he seems like a popular lad.

He's a good player

Hopefully they can rebuild and the majority of the squad who were there last season can stay, whilst their aim will be promotion back to the National League, given all the troubles I'd say a good season for them would be consolidation of the club off the field and a steady mid-table finish in the NLN.

I'd say limited rather than s****. Wasn't his fault he ended up first choice and he always tried at least. Those f***ing set penises still give me nightmares though, hasn't worked the last hundred times, this'll be the one lads.

Was limited in the Championship, s**** in the Prem. And yeah, you can't blame him for bubbling to the top of the s*** pile, but the turning circle on the HMS Iron Mike... just, wow.

Are they still at the International Stadium ?

aye and they don't earn any money on refreshments etc. they tried to get a new ground near the civic centre but fell through under one of the previous owners. to progress they need a new ground in the town.

Few signings for Gateshead over the past few days: Elliot Forbes (re-signs), Connor Oliver, Alex Nicholson (both Blyth). More to come no doubt.

Even with Gatesheads presumably limited funds, surely there must be a better stadium in the area than the International stadium!? Never been there myself but looks horrible (google pics) for a football stadium.

Also a friendly with Hebburn Town (who very kindly them use of their facilities) when they were kicked out the GIS. Good to see them give them something back.

Imagine Hatem has f*** all else to do and just rocked up to Gateshead for a season.

Considering Hatems history, i'd file it under the "Unlikely to happen, but if it did, I wouldn't be totally shocked" category.

Gateshead would have to ground share SJP in order to get all the fans in.

Scott Barrow re-signed for the club yesterday. Great signing for Gateshead and a lot of the old squad seem to have resigned now. Will be interesting to see how they do after the turmoil of last season at the GIS.

Not a bad result for the Heed last night against quite a strong Boro side. Lot of trialists on show (including one in goal who had a blinder apparently). Hopefully bodes well for the season ahead.

My son was there with his mates and had a great time, Woodgate took some stick and the fans love Mike Williamson, he did say that Boro looked poor and kept using long ball tactics.

Good win for Gateshead on Tuesday against Harrogate. Would imagine it'll be another one on Saturday against Scarborough Athletic - be a stern test and you'd imagine they'll bring a fair few fans with them as well.

When does the season start for them? I might take my daughter to her first football game, was going to be St James' but, well, you know  :undecided:
