So is this the adventures of Dexter in the wilderness looking manly with his beard and shirt?

Semi seriously, it’s not out of the question that it could be good. If he’s killing people while seeming normal, it would be back to a decent premise. He’s a good actor, the basic idea is good.

It got ridiculous when they tried to depart from this and everyone basically knew what he was doing.

I’m not optimistic but I might give it a chance.

It's apparently got the original showrunner who did s1-4, and I seem to remember @Kaizero saying that change was probably why it fell off a cliff, so maybe it won't be s***.

His plan was for Dexter to die, so I assume this season will just be about rewriting the ending into a manhunt that ends with Dexter seeing justice.

Enough time has passed that it's possible to replace the previous season and therefore keep Deb. Nobody will remember, right?

That's what I want. If Debra isnt in it then what's the point?

“Ten years, or however many years, have passed by the time this will air, and the show will reflect that time passage. So far as the ending of the show, this will have no resemblance to how the original finale was. It’s a great opportunity to write a second finale.”

Given the lukewarm reaction to the September 2013 series finale, from both viewers and even series lead Hall himself, “This is an opportunity to make that right,” Phillips said.

Gives hope for GoT to do the same in about 7-8 years, about the only positive I can take from all this.
Making mistakes is how you learn.
Every generation must fight the same battles again and again and again. There is no final victory, and there is no final defeat, and so a little bit of history may help.
“What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? And how can we get rid of you?” If you cannot get rid of the people who govern you, you do not live in a democratic system.
That is why no one with power likes democracy and that is why every generation must struggle to win it and keep it – including you and me, here and now.
