Episodes 7 and 8 made up for 5 and 6.  I'm still interested, but mainly for the mystery.  I don't think the series is that amazing.  Fair few bits of poor acting and writing along the way.

This bit was absolutely fantastic.  Reminded me of the little moments you get in series as good as Breaking Bad.

Speaking of Breaking Bad, I noticed another comment linked to the spoiler above, in the episode Bill Burr was in...

Finished watching this series over christmas once all 8 episodes were 'up'. Still think its worth a binge re-watch as a feature length thing, with episodes being relatively short.

One thing about the Moff Gideons ship...

Get Drew Kapershyn and Chris Avellone in for the plot rather then give it to someone who will butcher it.

It's so f***ing obvious that this "Multiple directors for multiple films without any blueprint or plot" thing they did just didn't work.

The whole trilogy feels really designed by committee.

George Lucas supposedly had the original trilogy story planned out before he filmed 'Star Wars: A New Hope'. This new trilogy wasn't planned out beyond the first film and it shows. Why did it have to be 3 films anyway? Purely because the original films were a trilogy? Even when Disney talk of the next 'Star Wars' films they mention a new trilogy. There's no point committing to a trilogy if you only have a story for one film.
Thier is not a word. "Their" is the correct spelling.

Win, Lose or Draw. NOT "Loose"!

I'm not opposed to the next lot still being trilogies (Especially if the next one lot are set in the Old Republic timeframe) but for the love of god, at least have a framework of a story worked out before hand or just let one director have the lot so they're not constantly contradicting themselves.

It wasn't planned out at all, it's well documented.  Obi Wan survived in his early drafts until his wife convinced him that his sacrifice would add something to the story.  Instead of Yoda training Luke in Empire, Lucas's first draft had Anakin coming out of hiding (Darth Vader was not Anakin originally).

The difference was that Lucas had a load of other friends who helped with the scripts who helped shape the story for the better.

Lucas also had the prequels planned out, and those are basically war crimes.

He had Lawrence Kasdan helping him but Lawrence Kasdan also helped on TFA too, so who knows.

Disney directed Kasdan to to play it safe and follow similar themes to ANH, hence why we got a weird soft reboot in TFA.

Lucas also had the prequels planned out, and those are basically war crimes.

Ironically, the problem with the prequels is that all his friends refused to help him when he asked.  Spielberg & Ron Howard definitely turned down the opportunity to direct telling him that the story was his baby & he should be the one to write and direct, even though in the original trilogy Lucas got help from loads of people to write and direct.  Plus he was divorced from Marcia by that point and she had helped him immensely with the writing and especially editing of the originals.

Then there's the choice to make Anakin a child in The Phantom Menace.  As much as Luke Skywalker is a Lucas' self-insert into the original trilogy (Luke S.), Anakin is essentially Lucas adding his son who was about the same age into the story (even further, his son even appears in Episodes 2 & 3 - he's the padawan fighting the clone troopers when Senator Organa turns up at the Jedi Temple in Revenge of the Sith).

tbh thats one of those things I'll never give the slightest s*** about loads of directors have put family members in their films

As for the prequels the main problem is while lucas is obviously a great ideas man he's just not that good a writer and the scripts needed an equivalent to  Lawrence Kasdan to refine it and keep Lucas as far away from any romantic scene as possible

I’ve finished season 1, but half or more of the episodes were nothing but filler.
