Been looking at doing New York plus another state for a couple of weeks in late september, hopefully doing a weekend in Dublin for the Notre Dame v Navy game first week of September

You should try Delaware...

Nah was thinking more a ranch in Wyoming

Delaware is TAX FREE. Persuaded?

Nah

Well, I tried.

Not that I've been there myself, yet. It's, like, 45 minutes away. I need to make a pricey purchase to make it worth travelling down for.

Gan to Mexico for a mate's wedding in May, El Dorado Seaside Suites in Riviera Del Maya. First time i've went all-inclusive, can't wait.

It's got some more-than-decent ratings on Trip Advisor as well.
Envisaging some Karl Pilkington style shenanigans from you like.

No doubt, the varying flavours of tequila they have there will only aid my adventures.

Don't think I could handle all inclusive like, can't be trusted with "free" stuff.

Pretty much sorted.

New York in July (with a potential hello Casa Semtex)

You'll be glad to know, despite all your (much appreciated) contributions, I've wasted all your time/effort - and decided to bugger off to Lake Windermere for a photography weekend

I haven't been to the Lakes in an offensively long time and the tepid temperatures on continental Europe probably aren't worth the hassle of going cross-border at such short notice. I know it's not a great deal of hassle, but still. Thanks for your help everyone :)

Need to research the weather before I book, maybe. Although it won't stop me either way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Weather in the Lakes..?  As if you need to research it   85% of the time you're there it'll be raining with cloud down to 200 metres.  10% of the time, it'll be dry with cloud down to 300 metres.  The other 5%, it'll be spectacular and beautiful

11 days from my similar trip up to Torridon and Kinlochewe :frantic:  Can't wait :frantic: :frantic:

My complete 2012 holidays plan:

May - New Orleans, for food & drink and soaking up the atmosphere

June - Chicago, to see friends and go to baseball games

August - Québec City, for cycling and pretending to be in France

November - Chicago again!

Enjoy it :)  Wonderful place for photography, I look forward to seeing the results in the thread

I like this. :coolsmiley:

Incidentally I have very good luck (weather-wise) when visiting the LD. Hopefully I can defy weather forecasts again.

Dithering over where I should stay. Quaint BnB or fancy-ish hotel. Nice headache to have :aww:

Chicago good to visit, or is it mainly a good place to visit as you have friends there? I sorta want to go after having watched ER.

I thought Chicago was class, but I do have friends there. I went in the summer and it was scorching. Probably better when you can actually walk around. Nice people and they love their sport. Big lake. That's my summary.

anyone got any help for me?  planning to hit uk on or about 1st june for a month and need somewhere to stay...last time i was back i rented a cottage but it was out in the middle of nowhere near yarm and meant the mrs. was pretty isolated as she doesn't drive

would consider staying in newcastle, durham, yarm, york...anywhere nice basically, especially the coast

ideal thing would just be to rent a flat for a month but no-one is going to short term let that i've found...looked at some serviced apartments about newcastle and you were talking 3,000 - 4,000 GBP man which is bonkers, hotel would run updwards of 2,800 assuming i could find a decent one at 100 a night that has availability for the entire month

gotsta be something kids, help a fella out...
So raise your fists and march around
Dont dare take what you need
I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or i'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name

Sleep now in the fire
