Is 4-5 days a good enough stay in New York?

For sure, in fact you'll be exhausted after that.

Would highly recommend not bothering with too many of the standard sights. Gets better when you go see the more interesting stuff.

Also don't walk everywhere like I tried to do the first time

It's plenty. We went for 5 days around the Christmas period. I think it's $31 for an unlimited weekly train ticket, which is an essential purchase. In that 5 days we went to basically every tower in the place, Central Park, 9/11 site, Bronx Zoo etc. and still had plenty of time for food and drinks.

Looking forward to going back and feeling like we don't have to see everything. I think it'll be far better the second time.

It's better every time, absolutely love it. Last time spent most of the trip in Brooklyn, which is class. Only went over to Manhattan once.

I'd move there if they'd let any forrins work.

I'm thinking 4-5 days in New York and 2-3 in Philadelphia.

Flights are ridiculously cheap.

I'd echo what Ian and Frog said. 4-5 days is pretty much spot on for New York, we did quite a lot of walking when we were there but you'll definitely want to get the weekly pass for the subway

The ferry is excellent as well, much better way to get between Brooklyn and Manhattan etc. Staten Island ferry obviously as well.

There's a ferry app where you can buy tickets and see the departures and all that.

Booked Taormina in Sicily for a week in August. Looks canny.

We went to Maro (just outside of Nerja) last summer and AirBnB'd it. Maro's a lovely little town with a couple of secluded beaches a short walk away.
Was spot on and we managed a night in Malaga on the way back as well.

Takes a lot to get people from other countries to the Central US. Everyone from the UK I've spoken to about Chicago who's been here is in love with it though. Definitely worth it for both cities.

Agreed. NYC and Orlando are super easy for sure. Although flights from Denver to London clocking in around $400 R/T.

Loved Chicago as well, as long as you have some money.

Chicago's probably the cheapest big city in the U.S., which I think speaks to how cheap the UK is in general. Even in London I felt like everything (besides housing) was pretty affordable for a massive city.

But yeah, similarly priced flights to from the UK to Chicago right now, probably even cheaper than $400 if you book at the right time. Would definitely recommend everyone takes a trip over at some point, especially during the summer or fall.

Went there now, glad we only stopped there to get on the ferry to Capri. What a s*** hole it is. The taxi rides were enough for that city. Even Brazil is cleaner ffs. It's shame because the city in itself seems to have beautiful architecture and from the ferry looks nice. But it's just litter everywhere and massive chaos.

Sounds like most Italian cities I've visited. Milan, what a dump.

Do you feel the same about Florence, Rome and Venice?
