Should be interesting given Botham's comment at the time of his departure.

England’s run rate after 70 overs is less than 2.2  :yikes:

Sounds like we had a good days worth of Cricket, hold out the first hour and we should be set.

Ha aye - good lead mind at stumps!

Jofra is lethal - nearly took Nichols head off!

In the important game across the ditch, Australia are splattering Pakistan - stumps on the second day, Australia only one down and leading by 72 runs on the first innings.

Interestingly, David Warner has scored more runs and faced more balls in his first dig of the summer than he did in his entire Ashes series...
Steve Bruce: Ashley Enabler.

In similar post-Ashes “irony”, Steve Smith was dismissed for four in a total currently sitting at 4/468

Root is such a poor captain - for his own sake he needs to admit defeat

Wonder how much its to do with not being able to use the Duke ball? Dry, flat crumbling pitches offering him little and no help from the raised seam.

A bit, this is an unusual new Zealand pitch tbf since it's a new venue.  Usually it swings.

Absolute s*** show that, pitch is terrible for test cricket but again we can't adapt to conditions.

Maybe it was just you guys? Santner and Wangner both immediately got juice out of it after Broad spent 2 days trundling in at 120kmh and Archer started sulking because Ben Stokes hurt his feelings after multiple misfields

Two quick wickets for England, would have been three if we would just play with a full time wicket-keeper

I'm assuming Root bowling Stokes into the ground despite having a gimp knee is his way of hobbling a potential captaincy rival?

Nasty, security guard looking at the crowd  took a six straight off the head, seems ok though.

375 for NZ, England got rid of the tail pretty quickly, have to go big and at a reasonable pace this innings to stand any chance of winning
