I've been pretty much exclusively listening to Eminem's first 3 albums recently and it's the first time in a long time I've listened to him and I can't f***ing stop. The older I get the more I appreciate the pure mount of genius that is in there.

That's the best way to absorb his music. Start from Encore then go back.

Nah, ignore me. The Eminem Show.

I throw Kamikaze in there too actually. Some great stuff on there.

What other of the 'new' albums do you like? I cannot listen to anything after Encore nowadays, and even that's a struggle.

Nothing. First 3 and Kamikaze. Tried listening to Encore and Relapse a bit and  a couple of attempts at others with no luck. I've even tried Revival because I want to believe him when he say's if you pay attention to it it's good. It's just so hard to get past the beginning of anything so I'm doubtful.

I just learnt about the story behind the 'Bitch' skit today. And Ken Kaniff. Strange things to look in to but hilarious and quite indicative of him in those early albums I think.

Early Eminem is the greatest. Unreal that period of sold 10/10 albums, classic mixtapes and ridiculous freestyles. His beef raps literally ended careers he was untouchable and brought a new wave of fans to the music and culture they never would have listened too. Some of the D12 stuff was decent but alot of it was crap.

From Encore onwards it was all downhill. Sobriety and age lost him his edge and I've barely listened to any of it as couldn't get into it. His breath control went too.

Anyone else been listening to Dave? Couple of real strong songs from him and he's been my go to artist recently since Stormzy apears to have fell of a cliff. Why do anything with Ed f***ing Sheeran man  :icon_puke_r:

It took me so long to appreciate how good this song is. It's a fantastically accomplished rap song disguised as pop song. You can miss the lyrics, which for an Eminem song is an impressive feat. But shove the rest to the back and it hits you.

Marshall Mathers LP is pretty close to perfection.  That was the soundtrack of my childhood, along with Dre - 2001, various DMX and, err........... G Unit
