You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.
We ourselves are responsible for our own happiness and misery. We create our own Heaven. We create our own Hell. We are the architects of our own fate.
Student says " I am very discouraged. What should I do?" Master says, "encourage others."
We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.
It takes a wise man to learn from his mistakes, but an even wiser man to learn from others.
This is what should be done. By one who is skilled in goodness, and who knows the path of peace: Let them be able and upright, straightforward and gentle in speech. Humble and not conceited, contented and easily satisfied. Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways. Peaceful and calm, and wise and skillful, not proud and demanding in nature. Let them not do the slightest thing that the wise would later reprove.

The jokes will be a bit dated now tho but Frank Skinner at the London Palladium is a class video.

Some of his jokes about Le Tissier and Joe Royal have me in tears

Peter Kay at the Tower is class too

He's excellent live, I went to see him last year at the Theater Royal.  I also enjoyed Lee Evans, wile Patrick McGuinness was ok.

As someone else mentioned Bill Bailey's stand up is fantastic at times, if a bit wierd at others.

Whether it's God or the bomb
It's just the same
It's only fear under another name
And the corporate snakes coming in to feed
On that pathetic fact known as human greed
Skin and bone being raked over those hot coals
This dump never seems to give time for human soul

Random fact of no importance: Dylan Moran - lives in Edinburgh next door to a friend of mine.

Haven't actually seen him do a stand up routine but I'd imagine Frankie Boyle would be very good.

Bill Hicks - Best. Comedian. Ever.

Was concerned no-one had mentioned Hicks.  Thank f*** someone did.

"A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back, he's really going to want to see a f***ing cross? Ow! Maybe that's why he hasn't shown up yet...it's like going up to Jackie Onassis wearing a sniper rifle pendant... Just thinking of John, Jackie. We love him. Trying to keep that memory alive, baby. [mimes shooting a rifle] I did that routine in Fyffe, Alabama, and after the show these three rednecks came up to me. 'Hey, buddy! C'mere! Hey Mr. Comedian! C'mere! Hey buddy, we're Christians and we don't like what you said!' I said 'Well, then forgive me.' Later, as I was hanging from the tree..."

Eddie Murphy did some good standup (yes, once upon a time, he did good things).  Steve Martin (same thing there).  Richard Pryor was amazing.  George Carlin is great.  Chris Rock.

Oh, Steven Wright!  Not the British DJ t***, the American deadpan guy:

Do they have reserved parking for non-handicapped people at the Special Olympics?

Jerry Seinfeld is good too, though you know what you're going to get with him, it's still good stuff, honed to a ridiculous level of polish.  David Copperfield of the standup world.
