U.S. Politics - The Biden Years
« on: Saturday 9 January 2021, 10:14:05 AM »
A requested starting point:

EDIT: Please change title to something more relevant, my brain dried up as can be seen.

Making mistakes is how you learn.
Every generation must fight the same battles again and again and again. There is no final victory, and there is no final defeat, and so a little bit of history may help.
“What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? And how can we get rid of you?” If you cannot get rid of the people who govern you, you do not live in a democratic system.
That is why no one with power likes democracy and that is why every generation must struggle to win it and keep it – including you and me, here and now.

Well we haven't had the attempted inauguration assassination yet. Definitely space for stuff to get a lot wilder.

I was so disconnected from reality, I never even learned of the attack until 8pm (thereabouts) the following f***ing day.

It's been good to be detached though, world too stressful right now.

Imagine having a cock so small that you need to dress like that.

The right to bare arms or the right to dress like GI Joe?
Sir Bobby Robson: “What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

That's excellent

These dipshits really were planning to kidnap members of congress, god knows what they would have done had they actually managed it.

Dumb pricks probably would've snatched Hawley and Taylor Greene.

Yikes. I know Bellingcat have requested that people store any digital imagery they find before it gets pulled. Have they started doing similar investigations?

For those wondering if it’s worth impeaching him this time, it means he:
1) loses his 200k+ pension for the rest of his life
2) loses his 1 million dollar/year travel allowance
3) loses lifetime full secret service detail
4) loses his ability to run in 2024

Was introduced after the situation with Jimmy Carter IIRC who had to sell his peanut farm as he was almost broke after being president.

Trump has $300m mind to pay back in debt soon.  No doubt he'll swindle his followers to get that.

$200k is pocket change.   Look how much the likes of Cameron, Blair, Clinton, and Obama have made after leaving their jobs.  A book and a couple of speeches and you're set for life.
