Might give up on Man in the High Castle, it’s really boring.
I'd strongly recommend reading Fatherland by Robert Harris. Takes the same idea as MITHC (alternate history where the Nazis won) but the execution is so much better.
Thats a very good read.
Fatherland is superior in every way imo. A much smaller in scope alternate universe book, but such a great detective story. Robert Harris has a bunch of fantastic novels. His Cicero series, and the Dreyfus Affair one 'An Officer and a Spy' are top notch. Liked Munich and The Second Sleep as well.
The Cicero series does exalt Cicero a bit too much though. His own hubris and ambition had a sizable role to play (that is too often underplayed) in the dissolution of the Republic. But it is from the perspective of his slave secretary Tiro, who certainly had a high opinion of him.
