Loading persecuted minorities into trains to be transported to camps. Sounds familiar...

It's just not spoken about in China, apparently. Actual re-education camps. Xi needs stopped.

Maajid Nawaz has started a petition to have sanctions imposed on China over the treatment of Uyghur Muslims. He’s gone on hunger strike until it reaches 100,000 signatures.

China orders US embassy in Chengu to close

China has ordered the United States to close its consulate in the city of Chengdu, in response to being told to shut its consulate in Houston earlier this week, as relations between the two countries deteriorated further.

China as the dominant economic power won’t be fun for us and it will be horrific for their neighbours. They’re already showing early signs that they’re prepared to bully Western countries into censorship, I expect that that will get ramped up in the coming years. There’s going to need to be a unified resistance from liberal democracies, but we’ll likely wait until things get really bad before that happens, and we don’t know what direction America is going in. Trump’s CHINA! tactics are largely just about playing to his base and are unproductive, and he has an isolationist approach which isn’t going to cut it. Doing things like leaving the WHO just creates a power vacuum for China to fill. Not much reason to be optimistic.

As hard on China as Trump might profess to be, it doesn't matter when he's this incompetent.

Without  knowing too much about American politics I would agree with this. Actually think the U.S and the west would benefit in the long run From reducing the military budget by about 3/4. Might sound daft but they could redirect that money to an area that would be more economically beneficial.

The F-35 program is the height of mental military spending. All in all the entire project will cost well over a trillion, and yes the West will have a superduper 5th generation jet (assuming the kinks get ironed out), thousands of them, and then it will be used to bomb middle-eastern peasants, and it won't do it any more effectively than a 4th generation jet. It's designed for a war that can't possibly happen because of mutually assured destruction, there won't be a conventional war with Russia or China.

I love this post.
Making mistakes is how you learn.
Every generation must fight the same battles again and again and again. There is no final victory, and there is no final defeat, and so a little bit of history may help.
“What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? And how can we get rid of you?” If you cannot get rid of the people who govern you, you do not live in a democratic system.
That is why no one with power likes democracy and that is why every generation must struggle to win it and keep it – including you and me, here and now.
