I re-watched The Matrix last night because of this thread. Reading the Wiki page today, apparently Johnny Depp was the Wachowski's first choice to play Neo, and Will Smith, Nicolas Cage (), Brad Pitt and Val Kilmer turned down the role before the studio pick Keanu Reeves got it.

Janet Jackson as Trinity would have been... something.

Would have wanked it pure off my body if JJ was Trinity.

I've re-watched the first two now, hesitant with Revolutions cos I feel like I definitely remember it being s***.

Dumb and Dumber To is a good shout, the pair of them absolutely should have known better.

I haven't seen Dumb and Dumber To. I could barely make it through the trailer. Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd was bad enough.

The only film I've walked out of a cinema for, left friends and just sat in the pub next to the cinema was Rat Race. Such a nothing film, and I've never seen it since but can only assume it's mediocre as f***.

I've sat through some right s*** though Batman V Superman, the dinobot transformer film, Green Lantern, all truly soul crushingly terrible films.

I'm sure there's lots more, but I just can't think.

At uni we used to have"Sunday, afternoon films" which was the s*** that was always on TV in a Sunday afternoon that was just glorious like Goonies, Zulu, Italian Job, A Bridge Too Far, Big, Shawshank etc. It's not relevant to the thread but you can't beat a Sunday afternoon film.

If I paid my hard earned cash to the video rental shop then I would sit through the films I'd rented, on some occasions that was purely to justify the spend.
But I made it though half of The Matrix then it got ejected from the video player.
Totally s*** film.

I think it might be the only film I've paid to watch and I've failed to finish.

Pearl Harbor was the only film I almost walked out on. Just an utter abomination of a film. But it would have been an absolute cinematic triumph if they just made the baby Ben Affleck was playing with black at the end.
Not one of the cool kids, and really insecure about it.

Can't narrow it down to one so

Batman & Robin (so bad it's actually a good laugh to watch)
Catwoman
Terminator Genisys
Suicide Squad
Caligula

Recently watched Batman Returns and it was so awful I stopped watching it (which I can’t remember the last time I did). I certainly wasn’t going to take a chance on Schumacher’s masterpieces...

Clearly I remembered from Batman Returns fondly thanks to Michelle Pfeiffer in spandex.

Don't think any Batman live action film will ever come close to even just the 1989 Batman, nevermind the Dark Knight trilogy.

Looking at my list back, Terminator Genisys man. That film could've had so much potential if not for, well, almost everything. The casting was all wrong; Emilia Clarke is just not Sarah Connor and the guy who played Kyle Reese was just wrong too. Most of the writing was utter pony and only some of the action scenes made it watchable. Haven't seen Dark Fate, which I've heard is almost if not just as poor.
But...6 in a row. But...Calciopoli.

I reckon Haydn wears pure concentrated pheromones.

Dark Fate was far better than Genysis.

Dark Fate is okay, as a comparison to T1 or T2 it's nowhere near that level but worth a watch.

Genisys is shocking like. The pet name Emilia Clarke's character gives her terminator, man that was up there with the most I've ever cringed in a cinema.

Linda Hamilton is great in Dark Fate and I'm on board with it easily being the 3rd best film in the franchise.

The Terminator franchise is a tragedy really, could’ve been one of the best sci-fi sagas. Same applies to the Matrix sequels I guess.

This is why lower-budget credible sci-fi will always beat the blockbuster stuff.

Is that the "Pops" s***?

Yeah, I'd go with Dark Fate being the third best. The beginning that p*ssed people off, I didn't see that as being a big deal, I thought it was more a nice touch in what they had done and it looped Arnie's character into the storyline.

I thought Dark Fate was daft, but good fun. The bad guy is actually really menacing and plays it perfectly. I remember seeing the trailer and thinking he didn’t fit. But glad to be proved wrong. I thought 3 was better. But I tried re-watching it recently and it is trash, TBH.

Genisys is a pile of w***.

I seem to remember 3 being okay tbh, nowt special, just okay though. They won't make anything remotely like the first 2 so they should probably just leave the franchise alone.

Attack of the Clones

A total disaster in every possible way

The dialogue between Anakin and Padme was actually mortifying.

the storyline and ending of 3 was great imo...the ending in particular...it was just executed poorly with bad attempts at recycling the arnie "jokes" etc.

same story with a different director would have been mint, i'll die on this hill
So raise your fists and march around
Dont dare take what you need
I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or i'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name

Sleep now in the fire
