Thought I read somewhere last week that the South Koreans had developed an inoculation.  Not sure how long it takes to test, mass produce and deliver.

Apparently its based on drugs they currently use to treat AIDS

Hope that’s not a careless whisper.

That doesn't sound like a vaccine.

Doesn't seem too bad outside of China. Mainly because we've prepped rather than working tirelessly to cover it up.
It's basically what gives us the upper hand even in times of crisis. "Cannit wait man, we're gonna batter them, hope it's 4 or 5 nil, fancy such and such for a hat trick, we're going got Europe, they're a yo-yo team" Then five minutes into the game "s***, why haven't we scored? They've had a shot! Why aren't we all over them? How come there are two teams in the game? f***, what if we don't win? f***s SAKE CLEAR IT SHOOT TACKLE HIM BOO! What if we lose, PANIC PANIC BRUCE MAN WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHY DID HE MISS THAT SHOT, IS HE A MAG?! IT'S BECAUSE BRUCE IS A MAG! f*** OFF STEWARD ARE YOU A f***ing MAG? BET ALL THESE COPPERS ARE MAGS, AND THE MEDIA! THE REF'S A f***ing MAG! AM I A MAG?! Wait, blacked out for a second there. Ah, f***, we've lost again."

Yes, especially to us.  The US and UK are the best prepared countries in the world for an outbreak like this.

It’s obviously a global concern, but you’re more likely to die from Tory austerity/cuts here in the U.K. than some Chinese Bruce Lee level version of flue, unless you’re well off of course.

That’s not to say this is something all about nothing, but there are more deadlier virus’ out there one can catch, like mass hysteria...

Now that’s a real c*** of a virus!

The first rule is never trust the figures gave out by China gov. The real number of patients and death rate are a lot higher.  There are a lot of evidences leaked out from Wuhan (only) that the number of deaths are easily over ten thousands. Patients are not allowed to get into the hospital and forced to die at home so that they won’t be counted as “confirmed cases”.

Then for you guys info, this virus is deadly for elders and people with long term illness say diabetes. However if you are relatively young and healthy you would be fine. There is a local case that a 25 years old guy get full recovery after 7 days inside hospital.

However what cause the real concern is it’s infection ability. Base on what we known so far, the possibility of airborne transmission cannot be ruled out, especially in places with high humidity. In addition, it’s also confirmed that patients feces could also contain virus and hence public washroom is a very risky place to go. We have cases that people got infected simply because he has getting closed (no physical contact, just get a bit of stinky smell from way far) to neighbours’ feces. As such, infection from family members are the most common cases here since they shared the same washroom.

Feel free to ask any questions if you guys wanna explore more. That said, please don’t discriminate Asians. Keep distance from us is totally fine but no social bullying please. That really hurts and unfair.

I’d imagine they’ll be concerned about it mutating though?

That’s interesting. Would it be fair to say that many of the deaths are happening in Wuhan, and are probably a result of a massively overstretched health system? Approximately 2% death rate in China vs 0.3% rest of world.

Correct. In short, it’s an “influenza which can easily cause pneumonia”.  The pneumonia itself is not deadly (elders always die due to pneumonia anyway). The outbreak that caused the overstretching health system is. As long as there is no massive outbreak in your country then you don’t need to worry too much.

Two points should be noted though:
1. There are lots of patients that initial testings are negatives but further x ray scan proven to be positives.
2. There are quite a number of cases that virus carrier has no symptoms but can infect others.

A seasonal flu would kill high numbers as well, not quite as intensified as this but my point is that no fuss is made about it.

If you’ve seen videos from China, they are welding people into apartment blocks, disinfecting the streets with a fleet of trucks, arresting anyone without a face mask. It has to be way more serious than the official numbers suggest.

A Chinese billionaire who’s living in exile in the states now has suggested the figures are closer to 1.5m infected and 50,000 dead in the region Wuhan is in. He bases this on info he has about crematoriums going 24 hours a day for the last month.
