Anyone fancy a sneaky Browns win btw?

They just need to give up on the idea of playing defense.

Our chances are:

(a) we score a TD on 75% of our possessions and/or
(b) Myles Garrett goes completely berserk and gets 10 sacks and/or
(c) Mahomes gets injured

Would be happy if Mojo can find me some YT videos that say we’re going to win though .

 beyond the scope of my abilities sadly.

Like TD just said, forget defence and try to run all over them surely.

I do think their offense has taken a step back from where they were last year. Saying they’ve been “figured out” would be an overstatement but it does appear that coordinators around the league have found some things that are at least having some success. Denver and Atlanta both went into Arrowhead and kept them to a pretty modest points output and had chances to win, neither are exactly top defenses either. I know they’ve had issues on the offensive line all year, lots of chopping and changing and they’ve struggled to build continuity.

The strategy seems to be take away the big play and make them dink and dunk it down the field and convert in the redzone, which doesn’t suit them as aside from Kelce they have undersized pass catchers whose raw speed isn’t as valuable close to the goal line. Also their RBs aren’t great in short yardage situations. I read that Mahomes leads the league in dropped interceptions so he’s been forcing it a bit and getting away with it.

Their defense is sneakily good IMO, or at least it complements their offense well. They aren’t great against the run but Spagnolo is brilliant on 3rd down getting off the field.

I’d expect both teams will move the ball pretty well. The Browns can win if they don’t give up big plays and force KC to kick a few FGs. And Mayfield has to play well and pick up a few big 3rd downs. It’s a tough ask but I think they match up reasonably well.

Was hoping for Champ but that'll do.

Rumour is he’ll be assistant GM as it’s a promotion from his role in Chicago.

Broncos have hired George Paton as GM.

Assistant GM in Minnesota for a long time. Good to see we’ve found someone who’ll come from an organisation with the same philosophy on QBs.

Any thoughts on him, @Pata ?

I really don't know much but remember reading that people were hoping he would replace Spielman in near future as Paton was going to get the main job somewhere else soon otherwise.

Heaps of YT clips from US TV channels basically, all seem to think Lamar and the run unstoppable while barely mentioning what the Bills might do because their D is so good.

I might be overegging it slightly but definite heavy emphasis on how good the Ravens are atm imo, to the point I was surprised to see us slight favourites in the betting. Again on the stuff I've seen, which certainly can't be comprehensive.

That's perfect for the Bills I think. Much rather go into that as the underdog and with a bit more of an edge to their game because of it. Let them put all the pressure on the Ravens.

Agreed, was kind of the original point really. Hopefully carries on.

Yeah we know, but they’re not actually underdogs, which was our point .

Ah, fair enough
I'll be watching the games, and I'll be talking about the teams. If it's a disaster it will be quite humorous and exactly what Mike Ashley deserves and to be honest I'll quite enjoy it. I am totally indifferent to results and the team success going forward.

Now, in certain games should the team do well, I will be happy more for the players, because I feel bad for them mostly, and I still want to see some of them do well. I will still feel comfortable giving the team credit when they do well. I just don't care about any outcome at this point and none of my money goes into anything to do with Mike Ashley's operations.

I'm old enough to remember when Steve Spurrier set the NFL ablaze with the Fun 'n' Gun. Those were two seasons that existed.

 feel like Spurrier was the first high profile college coach to make the jump. At least since I started following the game.

Seems Lou Holtz coached the Jets for a hot minute in the 70s after some success with NC State.

Clearly aging myself, because Jimmy Johnson also made the jump.

I haven't been following super closely but have been seeing lots of reports today saying it's likely to get done sometime today.

Looks like we're going with Brad Holmes at GM, the Rams scouting director. Don't know anything about him otherwise.

Falcons "front runner" is the Titans OC.

I have watched zero Titans games, but I assumed their offensive gameplan was "just give it to henry". Not hugely inspiring. "just give it to Ito Smith" doesn't feel like a viable gameplan.
