Anyone fancy a sneaky Browns win btw?
They just need to give up on the idea of playing defense.
Our chances are:
(a) we score a TD on 75% of our possessions and/or
(b) Myles Garrett goes completely berserk and gets 10 sacks and/or
(c) Mahomes gets injured
Would be happy if Mojo can find me some YT videos that say we’re going to win though
.
beyond the scope of my abilities sadly.
Like TD just said, forget defence and try to run all over them surely.
I do think their offense has taken a step back from where they were last year. Saying they’ve been “figured out” would be an overstatement but it does appear that coordinators around the league have found some things that are at least having some success. Denver and Atlanta both went into Arrowhead and kept them to a pretty modest points output and had chances to win, neither are exactly top defenses either. I know they’ve had issues on the offensive line all year, lots of chopping and changing and they’ve struggled to build continuity.
The strategy seems to be take away the big play and make them dink and dunk it down the field and convert in the redzone, which doesn’t suit them as aside from Kelce they have undersized pass catchers whose raw speed isn’t as valuable close to the goal line. Also their RBs aren’t great in short yardage situations. I read that Mahomes leads the league in dropped interceptions so he’s been forcing it a bit and getting away with it.
Their defense is sneakily good IMO, or at least it complements their offense well. They aren’t great against the run but Spagnolo is brilliant on 3rd down getting off the field.
I’d expect both teams will move the ball pretty well. The Browns can win if they don’t give up big plays and force KC to kick a few FGs. And Mayfield has to play well and pick up a few big 3rd downs. It’s a tough ask but I think they match up reasonably well.
