About as far removed from Baltimore as possible, so I’m pleased.

 The Padres! The padres don't even exist. It's a construction scam. No one has ever seen a Padre. It's like witness protection.

The f***ing PADRES.

f*** me we almost traded Miggy.

f*** This might be true actually. Fact: no one can name a supposed "Padre" over than Tony Gwynn.

Could be worse, imagine being the White Sox who offered more money in a state with lower tax, and still got rejected.

As great as Chicago may be, San Diego’s pretty much 75F and sunny year-round. And their zoo is ace.

He could hit .105 for the next four years and no one would know. He's got it absolutely made.

Personal golf cart to cruise him toward first as he sips a lemonade.

The White Sox seem to have genuinely believed that they had the best offer, and their execs have been projecting an image of "gobsmacked fools" the past two days.

Technically they did have the highest offer, but not in guaranteed money.  They offered 8 years/$250 M, but it went up to $350 M if Machado busted his ass on the incentives.

He wouldn't even bust his ass in the World Series, and took the guaranteed money.  He'll never sprint to first base again.

Is Machado s***, then?

Padres doing a Chargers and paying big bucks to FA’s that aren’t actually very good?

He's f***ing incredible. It's just San Diego is the most anonymous team in the league. Supposedly their farm is absolutely s*** hot, though.

It simply never really occurred to us that he'd sign for the f***ing Padres. Who remembers the padres, fgs.

Reckon Harper is a lock for Philly now.

He's comparing them not so much as cities but as clubs/teams you absolutely forget exists. It's hard to compare apples to oranges because anonymous teams in the PL get relegated. The Padres are the team you're like "Oh yeah, they exist." when your team's game starts and they're away in San Diego. The idea that a megastar would make that his team was...unexpected, is all.

There must be some wild s*** down in their farm. :undecided:
