I like the GDT ones but they are a bit marmite but I loved them. This tries to be b movie with a hint of GDT but it should have leaned into full b movie. It has a great first ten minutes in Tijuana then is all over the place. Milla Jovovich is unreal in it though she's getting hotter man.

Watched a few films on planes recently.

Creed 2 (7/10) enjoyed it. Predictable, but held my interest, and was never boring.

Deadpool 2 (6/10) started really well - was pretty fun at start but the plot is a whole lot of nothing. Still a decent enough watch.

A Star is Born (8/10) Lady Gaga was excellent, much better than I expected. Well directed, acting was pretty good throughout, and the singing scenes worked well. Maybe a tad too long, but it's a great watch.

Aye, it's a Rocky film rather than a Creed film. The first was so good it's a bit heartbreaking.

the general level of s*** handling of every aspect of it p*ssed me right off, down to the casting and everything

drago should have been reigning champ and creed making his way up, not the other way round

Finally got persuaded into watching The Greatest Showman by the lass.

Absolute plop tbh although the songs were catchy.
Before that why didn't the Wigan fans just walk the the Stewart's, the Stewart's only went up to the touchline, their was a big gap between the end of the Stewart's and the stand they could have walked through.
God man replacement's don't have to 100% of best to 100% of a replacement.
The are both white, both intellects, both middle class, both the typical 'people who would have thought could never do such a thing ', all traits of a Psychopath.

Blues Brothers, for the nth time. I could watch that first half hour every day for the rest of my life.
Obviously, I'm speaking of a hypothetical world in which there is a greater club than Tottenham.

I saw "Us" recently. It was fairly entertaining I suppose, but suffers from the same problems as Get Out, except on a far greater scale. Namely, nothing about the plot makes any logical sense against even minor logical scrutiny and the "twist" is laughably obvious. My wife and I both predicted it well before the midpoint of the film. Get Out was much better because the majority of the film was the buildup which was awkward, suspenseful, and funny before things were tainted by the ludicrous ending 30 minutes or so. In this one, more than half the film is essentially zombie apocalypse and the main characters are stopping to make jokes. The tone is very odd.

I am still not sure what the genre of Peele's films (Get Out/US) are meant to be. They are both seem to drift between unserious and self aware dark comedy and horror.  Fwiw, I think he would be better off just admitting that these are comedies. Neither film is scary at any point and the endings are predictable.

This is the End. Thought it was canny funny at times.

Kept the film fairly short which I appreciate in a comedy.
