Not a film, but watching Queens Gambit on Netflix, it's so good. Anya Taylor Joy is such a good actor.

Grizzly Man on Prime.

One of Herzog’s best. Brilliant documentary.

I think most horror films like that are objectively pretty bad, if you assess them as actual films. Within the genre there's some expectations and conventions that make it OK.

Disclaimer, I really know nowt about horror.

Because you've not watched loads, because they are objectively pretty bad.

Halloween is a stone cold classic. Ridiculously influential film.

Clive Barker's Hellraiser raised the bar for horror in the 80s.
Though, there's the US 'Schlock-horror' series like Saw and the Nightmare On Elm St which just 'shock by numbers'.
I find psychological horror far more scary than somebody getting stabbed or gouged.

He invented all of those Cenobite characters.
I read all of his Books of Blood in the 80s - which were excellent - but he went quiet after Weaveworld in 87.
Stephen King called him the future of horror.

Whilst SAW is definitely heavily laced with Schlock, it is far more than just that. I loved them.

Would disagree on the first Nightmare on Elm Street as well, it's a genuinely great film, not at all just cheap schlock.

I can't really remember NOES, At the time I loved it and I'm certain it was deeper than just schlock, but I can't be sure.

I do remember the sequels getting progressively worse, which is often the case with horrors. The interesting story is usually told by the end of the second film, which leaves only schlock left to engage the viewer.

The King of Staten Island. Good film but too long. Shave 25 mins off and it's very good.

Hes released loads of books after that and other stuff he was involved in. he admittedly moved into a more fantasy direction than straight horror.

Imajica is one of my favourite books and i hope its made into a series one day. There is an enormous amount of info in the book that sequels, prequels and spin offs should all be possible.

The Untold Story.

Properly f***ed up 1993 Hong Kong crime/thriller which has never been released in the UK due to its extreme content. Pretty unpleasant.

Jojo Rabbit. Thought the first half hour to 45 mins was a bit of a pain but get much better and really heartwarming.

I felt exactly the same the first time. Watched it again and I wasn't sure what I was on about.
