I don't want any specific spoilers please, but is the Captain Marvel film relevant to the new Avengers flick, or can I skip it?

i would say you could probably skip it personally, CM is mint and dead hard is about all you need to know though there could be elements to her origin that tie in which we won't know yet
So raise your fists and march around

She's going to be a major part of the new one. Depends if you want any background on why a uber-powerful hero has seemingly just turned up out of nowhere.

Her origin story isn't massively important though. It answers a few questions but they're questions you weren't really asking to begin with.

Next Suicide Squad flick will be a total reboot and they've recasted roles, except Margot Robbie.

Two hours of your life that'll avoid you possible confusion for a massive tentpole flick. Just watch it.

I really enjoyed it too. I loved that they didn't fall into a lot of the usual tropes and just got on with the story.

Needs to happen.

No. That tone works for Ant-Man. It would be awfully out of place for Endgame.
Not in Endgame, as just a one off Online video as a prelude

are there any decent theories about where marvel will go once the infinity stones arc is finished?

Secret invasion would be good if they revisit the skrulls

I recon they need to back off and make smaller scale movies that don't require every avenger to pop up at some point. Stuff like Spider-Man Homecoming where the stakes are low enough or personal enough that the audience isn't spending the whole time thinking "Why don't they just ring Thor and ask for a hand?".

It obviously creates a lot of problems where you're trying to manufacture reasons why they're not able to ask for help but I think that's an easier problem to work with than having to go bigger and bigger to outdo every previous movie.

Secret Invasion would require far too much ret-con.
Planet Hulk has already been half used.
Civil War 2 might be possible but I feel like you'd need to do a lot more before you get to that point again.
Marvel Zombies would be funny as an unconnected standalone but they'll never touch it.
If they get the rights back from Sony they could always do Galactus/Silver Surfer but after Thanos it might feel like more of the same.

They'll probably go into the personal arcs of the heroes changing. Steve Rogers passing on the title of Captain America to Bucky or Falcon or something. Thor into Lady Thor or Beta Ray Bill. Stark passing on Iron Man to Riri Williams.

Proper Fantastic Four plus Galactus and Silver Surfer.

Proper X-Men as outsiders to the established heroes and Avengers.

I'm not fussed about what the big arc is just keep it fresh and give us the Fox characters done right.

didn't they just get the x-men rights back with the fox acquisition?

Yeah that's my point badly made. I want them to do for the F4 and X-Men what they did with Spidey when they got him. Instantly fix the character and make it fresh and authentic.

should have yeah but not sure I'd want the x-men in the mcu itself, one of the issues for me when it comes to the comics is the disconnect between x-men and everything else. Frankly the x-men are big enough to be off doing their own thing

I feel the same. X-Men just seems too connected to history to just drop them in now. There's only so many times you can casually introduce some massively powered superhero that's just been pottering about doing their own thing for years and nobody has ever noticed.

Fantastic Four you could possibly do but that would mean rebooting them again and I just don't think people would react well to that.
