Title: Forum Awards 2012: Results
Post by: Kaizero on Tuesday 2 April 2013, 01:11:44 AM
It's been a great run this year and not too time consuming, so if people are happy with how things have gone I already volunteer for repeating this next year (only, you know, in January). Would be nice to get some form of consistency going with this perhaps.

Anyways, without further ado, here are the winners:

Hans beating me by 1 vote in the GC category, I'm going to be horrible to him for a while now.  Thanks for any votes people threw my way btw, seem to have got loads.

Canny forum at the minute IMO, despite the annoyances that will always be there it's a decent bunch on here at present.

It's not unfair at all. I voted for him without hesitation.

Very little to do with his footballing opinions or indeed the length of his posts. Much more to do with him going on about his bairn for what feels like an eternity, a trait I find extremely boring in any person. At least he won an award for it - others just get told to shut the f*** up about their kid without any sort of recognition for the boredom they cause.

Think I've become Disco.

 They go on and on because they're happy. They forget what it was like when they weren't the one with the kid. It's been happening for 100 million years. Two Neanderthal dudes had a clubfight after arguing about why Thog keeps breaking out the goddamn baby stone tablets after a hunt. When it's your friend, you just gently remind them that they've become everything they hate. They'll realize and then say some s*** about how it's different and you keep it moving.

I have never come across a man who has so much to say all the time. Reading his posts just reminds me of every single conversation I have had with my mother, me slowly walking out of the door while she bangs on and on, having sit down again because she is still going, trying to leave again..

It's not so much the amount he writes, but the way it's 'this is my opinion it's fact, if you don't agree with it go and do your own research', without every actually proving anything he's saying with facts.

Quote
As for technique,  I believe there hasn't really been a large leap in the advance of technique. Players today are faster, stronger and fitter but technically are no better than players of past. If anything there is a big argument to say players today are less skilful and less technical than players past.

No, I'm interested, you keep saying it's a huge debate, but you've not actually provided any information for me to read up on it!

I'm out, do your own research.

This was the moment I stopped reading any of his posts.

I think that might be my favourite post on the Internet ever . That thread feels like a million years ago though, maybe because it was last season?

Totally forgot about this thread. Bit late now I know but surprised it wasnt nominated.

I'm almost certain I nominated it, as well as toonlass92 for best newcomer.

You did, but in my C&P from my word docs it seems to have fallen between the cracks. Only that one nomination though so in the grand scheme of things it'd not have mattered. My bad, however.

Toonlass92s nomination made it across at least.

I've always felt bad reading the abuse HTT gets based on the fact that he was one of the starters (if not the starter? of what this became to be?) of this board and he's like encyclopedia of knowledge on Toon history and such.

There's a handful of the old guard of posters who've been on here for eternity that I've come to associate the club with since I've been a silent user for many ,many years and have always loved this place b/c you'd get the HTT, Cajun, Dave, Mick, madras, Ronaldo, Yorkie, JH, Pilko etc viewpoints.

Like a Geordie Rodney Dangerfield...poor guy.
