This might be a really s*** idea but does anyone know of an online Pictionary-style client that allows you to set up invite-only rooms? Was thinking it could be comical to have people draw footballers and/or famous footballing moments and have others guess what they are. Sort of Football in Paint but interactive.

1 Michael Owen? Didn't he score a hatrick in a ManU Champions League match?

Yes he did - from Wikipedia "on 8th December 2009 Owen scored his first hat-trick for Manchester United in a 3–1 away win against Wolfsburg in the Champions League".

He certainly scored a hat trick for us at West Ham, and he scored one against us for L'pool.

I don't know the answer of this, but thought it might be fun to discuss.

"Passenger" with most medals? David May is the example most usually talked about but probably there are others with more silverware.

I know that what constitutes a "passenger" is subjective but we probably can agree on some names.

I'll start with Geremi:

- 1 La Liga
- 2 CLs
- 2 Premier Leagues

Was having a conversation with a mate today about the most successful individuals as both player and manager, and we ended up trying to come up with the individual that has won more times the European Cup as both player and manager, having at least won it once as either.

Ended up with:

Rijkaard 4: 3 as player (Milan*2, Ajax) and 1 as manager (Barça)
Cruyff 4: 3 as player (Ajax) and 1 as manager (Barça)
Ancelotti 4: 2 as player (Milan), 2 as manager (Milan)

As the top ones we could come up with. Is there somebody else we're forgetting?

Checked him, he never won the CL as manager, but 3 Champions Leagues as a player, a World Cup as a player and manager, a European Championships as a player, and UEFA Cup as a manager (when it meant something), has to put him top?

Stephen Glass scored a few goals for us though I literally can't remember a single one
Remember going to Coventry away at Highfield Road and he scored when we won 5-1. Think it was under Gullit iirc.

Im sure people have already heard about him, but the BBC just released an article about a secret footballer who has written 4 books, who has experience gives an insight into the game. This is his description:

The Secret Footballer was still playing as late as 2011. He is English and has played for at least two Premier League clubs and was relegated from the top-flight on the final day of the season. He once booked out the top floor of a hotel in Paris because he heard that someone he didn't like was staying there.

Anyone got any ideas?

Title: Re: Footy trivia
Post by: Figures 1-0 Football on Tuesday 10 April 2018, 12:11:59 AM
Quote
Kitson, 33, from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, was not the product of a Premier League team’s academy. Instead – just like TSF describes – he played his way through the divisions after he was signed by non-league Cambridge United in 2001.

There he scored 40 goals in two seasons before being snapped up by Championship outfit Reading two years later, where he experienced the ecstasy of promotion to the Premier League in 2006.

But the glory days did not last as Reading suffered the agony of relegation on the last day of the 2008 season, something TSF says he also experienced.

Kitson managed to stay in the Premier League however by joining Stoke City, another strong clue as the TSF tells how he regretted leaving a relegated club to stay in the top flight

Fans even tracked down a recent interview Kitson gave to a Danish TV station.

The sharp-witted interviewer asks the striker if he had ever visited Denmark, Kitson’s reply – of being driven to beach holidays in the country by his dad as a child – also matches the account given in TSF book.

It's mainly a friend of mine, Robbo, and some input from me normally (though I wasn't involved at all in this one) - we're on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/seatsquizzes (http://www.twitter.com/seatsquizzes)

Preferred it when it was at The Hotspur and we had video rounds and so on but no such facilities at The Carriage.

Robbo is a quiz fiend though, he knocks these quizzes up in a few hours and they're always spot on.

Hi guys,

I've been trying to improve my Javascript skills recently so I decided to have a go at building a football quiz. It's just based on the well known wikipedia quiz game where you guess the player based on their career stats.

If you'd like a go please visit:

https://www.guessthefootballer.com/

You can play on web or you should be able to download the app by visiting on mobile on chrome and selecting 'Add to home screen' at the bottom.

I'm no JS expert so if you find bugs/suggestions please feel free to let me know!

Essentially you can only skip between players on the level you're on, and then if you have guessed 4/5 on that level there's only one player left so you can't skip on the last player as there's only one player left on that level.

There's 5 players per level on every section until you get to 35-39 where there's 4 so if you got to 38 the skip button should have disappeared. If you'd have got to 39 there would have been 1 last player and level on their own.

Let me know if that makes sense/your experience was different. I'll double check now to see if there's any issues.

Also would be great if you guys could give me suggestions on how to improve the game as I'm considering rebuilding it to go on google playstore with more functionality. I had ideas of hints, user login so i can add a leaderboard etc.

Cheers!

That seems to be the problem. You get your front line or defence sorted first and then your midfield is poor - i started with defence and then gave up.
Maybe starting with the midfield is the best approach.

The 11 different nationalities bit made it tough, especially when most of the big nation's superstars have played for Barcelona, Real Madrid or Juventus.

I suppose the key is to find (almost) one-club men like Maldini, Sergio Ramos etc and world-class players from weaker nations.

Has any player ever played in the top flight of Europe's 'big 5' leagues? I remember a question years ago where it was, "Name the only player to play in the top flight in Germany, England, Italy & France' and the answer was Djorkaeff. Wonder if 16-17 years on that's still the case or if anyone has played in all 5 (inc Spain).

I was asking on twitter if people could list the 11 PL pens Shearer missed, which I think were all for us.

Someone got to 8

Other 3?

That reminded me of Ade Akinbiyi. Looked him up again as a result - remember how he was notoriously s**** when he arrived at Leicester? He actually scored 9 league goals that season!

It was the 01/02 season where he was comically bad. Remember him finally scoring against Sunderland and he tore his shirt off and sprinted around the outside of the pitch like he’d won the Champions League.

Very late to reply to this just noticed but I remember Shearer missed a penalty at home to Southampton in 2000.think it was tipped onto the crossbar. Won 5-0 so didnt matter

Ah nice one. Thinking that's the one where Duncan Ferguson scored two early on.
