Expect a call from Steve (Ref), Stu. Greg told him about this game today, seemed like he might be able to make it. Not sure if I can make it, Sunday mornings are usually my U11's kick off times.

I'm in as I'll still be in town from the Reds vs Blues game. Got to be at Newcastle Airport around 1pm so anyone who can give me a lift from the game to the airport would be my hero.

Also need somewhere to stay Friday and Saturday night. Any floor or sofa will do.

Cheers Greg, I knew it wasn't far.

Is anyone going to be out on the Friday night? I'll be landing at NCL around 10pm. It'd be nice to get a welcoming committee but if not I'll head towards town for a few light beverages. Obviously all dependant on where I'll be laying my hat for the weekend.

Think I'm just going to play in nets for R v B like since I'm not overly arsed about it, there is absolutely no way I can play two games outfield two days running and I'd much prefer to be fresh for this one.

Wouldn't be the first time. I blame the head coach for not installing enough discipline at the club and turning a blind eye to the drinking culture. OCK out!

If Tranmere is anything to go by, I was quite surprised that you guys could play after the house party the night before.

Plus no warm up too.  Hardcore.

It may be wise to set a drinking cap for the Saturday night of say 20 units each. That should cover us for the Sunday!!

Wish I could but I'm already spending a couple of days back in Glasgow earlier in the week for the Scotland v Spain game and I'd be taking the p*ss with the missus and babies if I disappeared for the weekend too.

Plus I've got knees like Ledley King and struggle to play games two days on the trot.

If you've got a right back for this game, I'll play on Saturday, but would prefer in this game.

Aye, usual plan to head to Crofter's Lodge round the corner for a quick one (or two) with the other team - bit of goodwill, etc. There's also no changing rooms for Sunday's game, so bear that in mind when getting ready. Whitby have said that they're looking forward to the game and saying hello to us properly after the match.

Any word from Y2k about this?

I'll have to shoot off straight after as my flight leaves at 13.40.

Looks like a really strong squad out for this one. Should be a cracker.

Think the majority of people were 'ill' this morning - you were both down as coming yesterday, obviously your absence was magnified by the others not turning up. Doesn't do anything to help the lads who got themselves out of bed and down to the pitch.

***NOFC Maiden win of the Season***

As Stu, MKSC, QBG and James G set off on their voyage to Blakelaw this morning thoughts were not of the game but how they would prevent themselves from being sick in the taxi... An eventful night for all Team NOFC and forum members the night before saw copious amounts of the good stuff guzzled in anticipation of a full strengh team outing the following morning.

As the sleek ABC Taxi pulled in to the Blakelaw Football Arena we did wonder whether we had actually slept through to Monday? Where were the rest of the team, the opposition and the ref? The writer would like to make a special thanks to the following individuals for attending the 'home' game today:

Greg, QBG, NUT, Colin, James G, Slim, Stu, Kev, Pete and Nick.

One does have to point out that we really should be fielding 11 players on our own home turf - irrespective of illness/injury/mood/hangover. If you genuinly can't play at least show up to give the lads some support. Some of the guys pay top dollar to travel for these weekends, the least we can do is get a full team togother so as to ensure a non-wasted journey.

WHINGE OVER - BACK TO THE MATCH REPORT

                Greg

James G Colin NUT QBG

        Slim Kev Stu

           Pete Nick

Team NOFC patiently warmed up well past the eleven o'clock scheduled kick off time as they waited and waited for the shambles of Whitby to have the decency to show up to play. Fortunately the boys had some cracking entertainment as we witnessed Pete silently chanting to himself about some unusual goal celebration that he wanted to unveil?!?! Little did we know that all would be revealed shortly before half time.... There were also some acrobatics on display as QBG proceeded to bicycle kick all of the footballs that exist in the North East of England over the bar and into the fields behind the vast football complex. Kick off finaly approached once the filfth of Whitby lined themselves up to face us. Given the lateness of the opposition is was agreed that they should only have ten men throughout the game. This would ensure that the ten men of NOFC could well and truly batter them!

Team NOFC started very brightly indeed. Some excellent passing movements accross the park opened up gaping holes in the Whitby defence. Nothing was going to get past our two rocks at the heart of defence as Colin and NUT completely bossed all Whitby had to offer. QBG did an excellent job down the left sything down all that approached him ensuring we retained possession! The midfield trio of Slim, Kev and Stu connected very well indeed with Pete and Nick up front. The space created by these five opened up acres of space down both flanks for both QBG and James G to make full use of. Largely due to the previous nights brew, the writer can not precisely recall the order or nature of all our goals but would describe the following, please feel free to FYP if this is not entirely accurate:

Goal 1: James G knocked the ball to Kev following some excellent defensive work by Colin and NUT.  Kev collected outside the area and pinged the ball past the s**** Whitby goalkeeper.

Goal 2: NUT launched a fabulous cross field ball up to Pete who calmly collected the ball and slotted the same underneath a terrible Whitby keeper. Team NOFC were baffled at the flapping technicque of what can only be described as an Orangatan in goal!!

Goal 3: James G found himself in acres of space down the right. Kev played an excellent one two with James G (Yes Kev did actually pass the ball) before James G laid the ball sqaure to Stu who slotted home from an accute angle on the left.

Goal 4: James G was again free down the right. The Whitby left winger clearly didn't realise how poor James G's ball skills actually are and allowed him to advance with the ball before releasing Pete. We now approached the climax of the game. Pete composed himself before unleashing an ustobbale shot past the Orangatan's left stick. Pete the Barbarian then screamed with elation YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH H. It was as though the relief of experiencing NOFC's maiden win was too much for him!!!!

The second half was not too much to write home about. Nick missed a sitter shooting over from only two yards out. Other than that Whitby cobbled together two goals as the stamina from Team NOFC finally took its toll late in the second half!

All in all a good weekend was had by all. The reds experienced what victory felt like on Saturday, Newcastle United somehow came back from the impending abyss of another home defeat and, most importantly, Team NOFC WON!!

MOTM: Pete
Chant of the day: 'We all live in a Neesy submarine'

That's some very small 6 yard boxes if I was outside of that and was still '2 yards out'. Still i'll admit it was a horrific miss! Think other than that though we've got some sort of solid shape starting to take place there. Kev and Stu pulling the strings in the middle, me winning the flick ons and being general target man and pete buzzing around all over the place giving it his 'ooooh yeeaaah' when he scores.

Haha :-) I was too far back to see the actual distance to had to elaborate!

I thought it was a top game and in all honesty we took the foot off the gas in the second half. I think that may have been more down to the fact we were f***ing ill off the night before.

MOM for me was James G.... best game for NOFC

A lot of s*** hit the fan at college last night, and I only got to bed at 5am.  Set up the alarm clock, but in my stupor I smacked it off at 7am.

Sorry guys.

I think these are the wrong way around ??? We should of had a handful in the second half too, the shorter game (thanks Whitby!) denied us of a) throwing away a four-goal lead or b) boosting our GD significantly.

Neesy 1 and Neesy 2, Neesy 3 and Neesy 4....

First of all, congratulations to Newcastle on their win and thank you for your hospitality.

After this game, I've decided to leave my post as manager of the Wanderers. It's a thankless task and I'll be glad of not having the hassle. This isn't a reflection on our opponents today who were worthy and sporting winners but an accumulation of things that no longer make the job enjoyable for me.

It's unlikely we'll be playing any more IFA games, but I'll be in touch with teams that have fixtures arranged and John as soon as I know for sure.

I'd just like to thank those that have been hospitable to us over the past few years. I've made some good friends and remain a supporter of the IFA. This also means we won't be taking our place in the IFA Cup either, if you're reading this John.

Once again, thank you to the many excellent people involved with the IFA and I hope the league continues to flourish.

For the record, our two goalscorers were Simon Taylor and Steve Hunter. I was delighted Steve got what might be our last goal- a real manager's dream with a top-notch workrate and attitude.

Have a drink mate and take a few days off. We have all been were you are at
this moment in time. We don't want to lose you and we will all continue
to support you and your lads. Just take a bit of time off and things might
all look differently then. Your name and that of your club as reached people
like myself who would probably have never given you or your club a second
thought but because of you and your efforts we now know about you and your
club. Keep your chin up mate and if I can help in any way please get in
touch. Get you and your lads across to Deepdale the home of PNE I will get you
a VIP day out mate a day you will never forget its the least you deserve.

Yours sincerely,
Steve at PNE

I too wouldn't mind a thank-you now and again for organising everything especially with my lot who sometimes have to be reminded to exhale after inhaling. But its what we do, it gets frustrating at times when no-one helps with the nets or racks up late or not at all without a call or text, but we do it for the love of playing and watching footy.

I hope you change your mind mate.
