I can't make it up two weeks in a row so I'll say no to this one.

Nope, red v blue would potentially be more fun and of course I would get to play with your fine self but I'd prefer to play in a proper game than a glorified kick about if I have to pick between the two.
-
It won't be no kickabout for me. I'm shouting at all you t***s as per usual.
-

That is the glorified bit!
-
At least in red vs blue, you'll get to kick the ball once or twice.
-
Think so.

Well you've commited to the glorified kickabout now. Why can't you play in both?

-
Aye.
-
I can possible get Peter(scored 2 at SJP) involved if this is going to happen.

Will confirm or cancel either way by tomorrow evening so please make yourself known
-
Yup
-
Any1 contacted any of the local based centre halves such as Dino, Nut etc if we're short there.
-
NSG can play providing it is an early kick off as he has cricket in the afternoon.
-
confirmed
-
Great as usual stu.
-
Pitch booked from 10am.
-
Pitch booked from 10am.
Thanks Y2k. Will sort out a ref tomorrow.
PNE also want to do a penalty shoot-out at the end of the game "in practice for WorldNet" - so if you fancy taking one, please put your name down...
-
Aye I'll take a penalty.
-
Yep I'll take one.
-
Also do we have a more exact kick-off time? And can anyone meet me at Central Station? Not living in Newcastle I have nee idea where this place is, or even where to get the Metro to and I can meet someone outside there.
-

Get on a Metro to South Gosforth and I will give you a lift.

Will let you know what time to be there for but I'd guess about half 9, will confirm once kick off time is confirmed.
-
Nice, thanks again :)
-
meet at 10 in changing rooms
10.15 ko
will see what we're like for numbers, if you can pm me with your mob numbers (unless you've ever had a text from me this season)
-
I'll take a penalty.
-
OP updated with details, if you see speak to the likes of KenDahl, Heza, JonBobson, Muzza, etc., can you see if they can play. Would be good to get 14 for the game as Preston have a decent team, so we'll need the subs :)
-
Good work, Stu, much appreciated
Not sure where this new notion has came about that I'm a defender like (here and RvB thread)
-

Well, I see you more as a right-back than a centre-mid or a centre-half. You did a good job in the Barnsley game IIRC on the right hand side (albeit, more of a midfield/forward role)
-
I asked people what position they were in the RvB game and I saw no answer from yourself Chris.
Also, I am as yet unconfirmed for this.
-
Aye nee worries!

My lass is away to Scotland that weekend so, I'll put my name out there for a lift too please. I R SCUM!
-
Probs can make this one, changed a shift at work so don't start till 1 now
-
Stu am I able to get a lift for the Kezman brothers?
-
i'll play
-

Not sure if I'm driving yet
-
OP updated - do we have anymore takers for this? Or those maybes able to confirm/deny their availability - all of the match details have now been confirmed.
-
Keep me as unconfirmed for now, if I can make it I'll come along as sub.
-
I'm now definitely in.
-
What about SEMTEX and t'others?
-
Hoping SEMTEX can go, was hoping to beg for a lift!
-
Will take a penalty too if the five haven't been picked.
-
yeah i'm in
-
Seems a pretty strong squad...on paper.
-
I don't mind taking a pelanty.

Shame football is played on grass (or a suitable synthetic grass substitue) isn't it.

Stop crying, I didn't say it was the strongest possible squad.
-
Please don't massacre us with a million subs in the second half.
-
Please don't massacre us with a million subs in the second half.
Looks like you'll have 3 to 4 subs at the moment and as Stu said the quality looks reasonable so you'd hope the subs wouldn't lower the quality of the team significantly, if at all.
-
It's got nothing to do with the standard of player. All cohesion and momentum is lost when it happens.
-
I think the key is not doing too many changes at one time, and not bringing people on/off/on/off constantly. Everyone has to agree though on how it works, or someone is appointed as the manager/decision maker and everyone agrees that their word is final.
-
Kezman is the match-day manager, as normal.
Everyone who turns up will get a good game, as normal.
-
I like we have a s*** load of strikers! GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL! :frantic:
-
Seeing as we seem to have a lack of defenders & ample midfielders/forwards who are better than me I don't mind filling in at FB if needed. Played there and did ok against Whitby.
-
I can come, but my manager only wants me to play 30 mins. I'll come along either way, I just don't wanna be hobbling around for the big one.
-

:celb: Glad you can make it. Can I scrounge a lift, plaese? :-[
-
Count me in. Where am I playing? Not in goal, I hope.
-
i'll take a pen like. anyone driving to this? i'm on the blag for a lift again :kinnear:
-
pencil me in a pen if needed
-
I'd also take one. I'm putting it bottom right, in case anyone wants to know.
-
I'd also take one. I'm putting it bottom right, in case anyone wants to know.
If I'm taking one, this too will be where I am putting it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I may buy you a pint if you score with a dink.
-
Right I count 15. No more applicants unless we receive drop outs sorry, I'm not Sven.
-
Tbh I'm happy with ten minutes, I'm just coming along for the banter more than anything.
-
In case you hadn't read the OP properly, you really need to be at Blakelaw before 10am so we can get out and get a warm-up before the 10.15am KO, last thing anyone wants before the Reds v Blues mega-match is to get injured.
Secondly, if you own a football, please bring it.
If you don't own one, but fancy investing in something that will benefit the team immensely throughout next season, it would be greatly appreciated if you would get a half-decent match ball (no more than £25 will get a beauty of a match-ball, but not the £6 balls in Sports Direct that are the plastic versions of the real thing*)
Everyone will need to bring:
- Boots (suitable for 3G)
- £4 match subs (we're covering the pitch costs as PNE are travelling, both teams pay ref) before the match starts*
- SHINPADS
- Kit: NUFC home shirt (any vintage), black or white shorts and socks.
- a drink and/or half-time snack
Squad updated in OP - if your name is on there, you'll be expected to turn up. No-shows will be counted against you for future games, see the relevant hall of shame thread...
*this is not to say that bringing one or more of those balls will go unappreciated, just that if you're going to go to the bother of buying a ball, it'd be much better to spend a little bit more and get a very good ball.
**based on 12 players turning up, anything extra can go towards MOTM pint afterwards (or a 'club' football)
-
Not a rule per se, but a preference.
If you have last seasons shirt (I.e. the championship year.) bring that. It would be nice to get some uniformity, but isn't essential.
-
Last time I took a Football along to a NOFC kick about Kezmen hoofed into space never to be seen again.
-
lads, i'm out of this i'm afraid. got a bad tooth infection and i'm a broken man, apologies, i should be fine for reds v blues
-
Right, gonna require a rejig then. Has anyone spoke to Crofty?

Don't reel out the fishing smiley now Stu, you just weren't paying attention.
-
How many people are leaving straight after the game for work?
PNE would like to have a drink straight after the game - we've had an appalling record so far with teams travelling hours to play us and then not bothering to have even a quick drink with them afterwards.

I'm at work at 1 so would have to leave straight after
-
Not sure, I'll be trying to scrounge a lift there and back to be honest, as my lass is away with the caaaaaaaaaar.

Um... pretty sure it was the Preston lot who didn't show up to the after-match drinks last time.
EDIT: It was Barnsley, come to think of it. But it's not like we haven't made the effort.
-
I can give you a lift Chris. Great Lime Road, 9 AM
I'll go out for a drink after but am driving.
-
Thanks Dan, I'll be staying for as long as Dan is in that case!
-
I'm out due to illness :weep:
Sorry lads, all the best :weep:
-
Right, if you are reading this. Applications are now open, if you fancy playing.
-
Kev's been added to the squad.
-
Jesus, at Right Back again - time to get those Warren Barton vids out.
-
The team is by no means concrete.
-
Just as well, my hair is too thin for a decent Barton Floppy Barnet these days.
-
Bagsy not runnning the line.
-
Bagsy not runnning the line.
Don't get me started.
-
I f***ing hated it when people on my team used to say "I'm not running the line". Usually followed by "I'm s*** at it." So are most of the ones in the Premier League but they still do it. Just get on with it. Everyone runs the line at some point.
-
Did it v Barnsley. Ref doesn't even f***ing listen when you call something so it's a complete waste of time.
Tires me out n all.
-
It still needs to be done though. Have you ever tried to do a proper game with no lino's. It's s***. If I'm off the pitch at some point during a game I'm playing i'll grab a flag. No problem.
-
We managed ok against Whitby as it happens. Didn't even have a ref!
-
True but when I'm trying to manage it helps if someone would just grab it and run the line.
-

It's predominately Mourinho esq shouting, and moving players around and screaming at my brother to actually tackle someone and not turn his back.
-
sounds pretty gay, what formation?
-
Anyone know where you can get a cheap ankle support from?
-

Boots do em, not sure how much they cost but if you need one for tomorrow they may be your best bet.
-
Really excited for this. Think we've come a long way since we last played them. We know a lot more about our own players, and have a good unity.
-

Be a good marker for sure. Guarenteed to be a better game regardless as we won't be playing in a bog this time. IIRC we didn't look much like scoring last time so thats something to aim for.

Aye but to be fair, irrespective of the pitch, the cutting edge was they had strikers who would shoot we had a midfielder playing upfront a lone.

Oh i know, the pitch was a contributing factor in it being a bit of kick and rush match, neither team really got the ball down and played too much fancy stuff. On a personal note that was the first time I'd met the entire team bar Yorkie i think which doesn't help massively.
-
 The cutting edge was that everyone on their team had football boots. About half of our lot did.
-

so their team followed the simple advice of "bring boots AND trainers" - world beaters, eh?

Well do they do say all Preston fans like to follow instructions.

Couple of late changes, ref is now Les Moulds and Blakelaw have double booked the 3G with an NFA league match, so we're on one of the grass pitches. They're all quite firm due to the frost, so you should be fine with the same footwear.
Good advice.
-
If you've got boots why not bring them? Always baffled me...
-
Don't have boots, being my simple answer

Eh? When did i say they were world beaters? I think we'd have beaten them on 3G and i think we will at the weekend.

-
We would've man! They weren't that good like. They had a good winger who had me for breakfast and shat me out again (a common theme), but apart from that, all they had on us was a bit more organisation.
We'll s*** em this weekend like. Proper confident.
-
Are you playing Matt?

Apologies that wasn't directed at you, or anyone for that matter.
-
Why do people not have boots?
I haven't played 11 a side since I was about 14, I've played 5/6 a side since then so just have astro turf boots. Of course this sound strategy came undone on the morning of the Preston game when we got moved to grass and I spent an hour slipping and sliding around and generally being s***.

I had boots on and i think me and everyone else who had them on slid all over the place.

Nah man, hence the injection of confidence.

Any news on a possible line up?

I'm going to have to pull out loads of great saves tomorrow.

Just remember to work hard and play as a team, no bitching. Oh, and score goals. They always help.
-
Devastated i'm not gonna be there for our first win. :(
-
On the train up now. I'm pumped! Let's f***ing do this!
-
No idea where my boots or gloves here, I hope they turn up.
Not been seen since SJP.

Good luck :aww:

Well I'm more organised than I thought, I was expecting them to be under my bed or something but they were lined up in the cupboard.

Nice day for it

I'm goosed, sorry I shot off at the end, i'm at work at 1 and thought it might be an idea to have a shower.
-
Ouch. Unlucky boys. They're a good side Preston. If we keep working at it we'll get there in the end.
-
Paul the Octopus > Yorkie
-
f***ing hell that was hard work. Good game though despite the result.
Daniels Alarm hasn't gone off.

Good buck passing.
-
Fell over in the shower my legs are just like jelly after that. Their number 10 tore me a new one.
-
I played s*** and was directly responsible for 2 of the goals :(
-
Scored my pen. :D
-
Wasn't a terrible game, the drinks afterwards made up for any s**** feelings. Recommend we do that after every match, even if its for 30 mins. I've also came to the conclusion that I'm equally s**** no matter where I play, so I'll declare myself a James Perch Utility Bill Player. :celb:
-
Don't beat yourselves up too much about the result lads. It was only the 7th NOFC game and of those seven 2 have been against the best side in the IFA and one was against a University team. The other matches have been close(ish) and competitive. I don't think we've been putting out a consistent team either so the cohesion is still not there.
Still, next week to look forward to now and the big crunch game, followed by the first NOFC away game against West Ham. Things will improve over time.

this, next season will be our breakthrough season! as they say experience is key
-
I could not be there today because I am currently in Beijing, gutting really because I enjoyed the trip up in February.
Still having football at this time of the year is another one of the good things about the IFA, although usually it is nice to have a little rest from the competitive matches.
Hopefully we will get to play again next season, although we are a bit short on Championship opponents in the North East.

Think we're making the trip down to you guys for Deepdale next season, Stu talking to your guy about it.
-
Ow.

Ah that's a stinker. :( Unlucky lads, so long as it was a good game/good craic. They were a decent set of lads, the Preston lot, from what i remember.
Pooey result though. What was the team like?
