I'm sure it's 20 quid in the shop, worth it just for the look on photos.

Ooook

Anyone got a problem with me playing right wing/cm>?

Also likely i will be playing in a blue retro one...

Realistically though, if people want to wear different away kits that's fine, we can't expect 15 people to burn that additional money on a yellow monster. I would say it'd be good if people can try and wear colourful ones from the past if they can't stretch to the yellow. The maroon and blue would be decent for example.

You can't expect people to co-ordinate numbers man.

Can't see someone with an away shirt not using it because someone else is going be playing in one with the same number on, just won't happen.

I'll be wearing 26 though.

Aye but there's no harm in recording them on here if anyone already has certain numbers.

I'm numberless atm, but am likely to go for 14.

Well thats why I'm asking. If people already have the numbers fair enough, but if people are buying a new yellow for this, at least we can see what numbers are free if people fancy trying to get it look good.

Looking at the split of players we got, looks like we have a really good balance. Nicely fixed, Dan!

So we playing a normal 4-4-2 then lads?

Psst, guys, think they're going to go for a 4-4-2... keep it on the down low.

We should divide our 14 outfield players into 7 pairings so we can 'plan' the substitutions in advance, thereby avoiding Professor Chaos and his sidekick General Dissaray on match day
Title: Re: NOFC @ SJP - AWAY TEAM THREAD
Post by: Optimistic Nut on Friday 23 April 2010, 10:42:19 AM
Yeah, we could do with a mathematical genius to work subs out mind, sure if it was planned right then we'd all get about 45-50 minutes each.
Title: Re: NOFC @ SJP - AWAY TEAM THREAD
Post by: Disco on Friday 23 April 2010, 10:43:34 AM
Would it not make sense for both teams to do their subs at same intervals so it doesn't break the game up as much.
Title: Re: NOFC @ SJP - AWAY TEAM THREAD
Post by: Optimistic Nut on Friday 23 April 2010, 10:45:44 AM
Just worked out that there'll be 600 minutes playing time, divided by 14 players, should be 42 minutes each.

Would it not make sense for both teams to do their subs at same intervals so it doesn't break the game up as much.

You would hope so, but that means telling the other team how to do their subs. For all we know, they might want to swap half the team on 15/30/45 minutes :undecided:

My original working out was along the lines of...

aa   bb   cc   dd   ee   ss1
bb   cc   dd   ee   ss1   ss2
cc   dd   ee   ss1   ss2   aa
dd   ee   ss1   ss2   aa   bb
ee   ss1   ss2   aa   bb   cc

ss1   ss2   aa   bb   cc   dd
ss2   aa   bb   cc   dd   ee

0-10   11-20   21-30   31-40   41-50   51-60

0-10   11-20   21-30   31-40   41-50   51-60

Seems logical. Just important that we ensure everyone gets the same time on the pitch. I shall propose to it our powers that be.
Title: Re: NOFC @ SJP - AWAY TEAM THREAD
Post by: Stu on Friday 23 April 2010, 10:59:57 AM
This results in:
Players   1st Half   2nd Half   Total
aa   10   30   40
bb   20   20   40
cc   30   10   40
dd   30   10   40
ee   30   20   50
ss1   20   30   50
ss2   10   30   40

So everyone gets a full 40, you can tweak it so everyone get 45.

Chances are, injury and fitness means that some people will player closer to 50 while others play closer to 30.

EDIT: As I said, this was done v briefly when we first had the idea suggested by Rocker (to see if it was feasible)

Right then. I'm not being deterred by the fact the free printing no longer exists. I'm buying mine later on. I hope the rest of you follow suit, as it's a bit harsh on the few lads who have already gone out to splash the cash, thinking we'd all be doing the same.

Plus it would just look damn sexy, not that I need any help with that.

I shall do market research of relative costs, as I am a cheapskate.

So far I know:

Sports Direct:
Shirt: £20
Printing: £4 p/number, £1 p/letter

NUFC Store:
Shirt: £25
Printing: £10 when shirt bought at same time, else £15.

JJB:
Shirt: £25
Printing: £10 when shirt bought at same time, else DUNNO

Is there anywhere else that even sells sportsy s*** anymore??!

£4 per number is massively s***, if you are in the double figure clan. As is £1 per letter if you are dinotheprehistoricgeordie.

Shirt with printing at Sports Direct costs me £39

Shirt with printing at NUFC Store/JJB  costs me £35, saving me £4 to get the socks as well.

Sports Direct = £28 for him. £7 cheaper than the club shop.

NUFC Store:
Shirt: £25
Printing: £10 when shirt bought at same time, else £15.

JJB:
Shirt: £25
Printing: £10 when shirt bought at same time, else DUNNO

Florida Print (Metro Centre):
Shirt: Divvn't sell it man
Printing: £4.99 p/number, £1.20 p/letter (More expensive than SD, but not giving money to fatty mike, and printing not performed by retarded charver t***)

Is there anywhere else that even sells sportsy s*** anymore??!

Haha, go for it if you want, I was just perplexed how your surname could be 11 characters. Especially as I know your surname, and it isn't 11 characters!

I may trade down to a single figure and go Florida Print.

NOFC Away Team keen to delay Stu surgery(AFP) Friday 30 April 2010

NOFC Away Team medical staff hope that the club's star midfielder Stu Dow can survive until the end of the season without an operation on his persistent groin problem, the club said on Friday.

Dow, the IFA League's leading midfield runner with an average distance of 9.45km covered per match, has struggled to find his top form in recent games and has been rested where possible in a bid to ease the mild strain.

"After studying all the parameters of this case, we've concluded that the treatment Stu is currently undergoing will permit him to finish the season before having to be operated upon," said NOFC club doctor Kristan Heneage.

Heneage did not comment on whether he believes the South Shields-born University international will have to undergo surgery in the summer and rumours perist that the combative midfielder is also nursing a hamstring tear, picked up during the past week.

Stu's groin problems have been compounded by the fact that NOFC Away Team are still contesting the Newcastle-Online title and they need his engine in midfield. NOFC Away Team face their bitter rivals, MKSC's NOFC Home Team, at St James' Park on Tuesday evening in a winner-takes-all-clash of the titans (Titans Will Clash!).

Sources close to the player, who is believed to be suffering from a rib injury, believe that the opposition are trying to get the crowd onside through the sympathy vote.

Right, I've got 5 pairs available.

3 pairs are sized "6.5-8"
2 pairs are sized "8.5-10"

My first thoughts are that these socks should be taken by Nut, Stu*2, QBG and ObiChris. Nut blatantly should have a bigger pair, and then whoever is the next biggest fella take the 2nd bigger pair.

Please confirm/deny whether you want these socks asap.

The only place I've managed to find that still has some adult yellow socks left is DW Sports in Byker, but the biggest ones are 6.5-8.

Oh, and for the record, I'm wearing size 4.5-6...

£5.50 each.

Aye I'll take a pair. Not bothered what size the smaller ones should be fine.

I went to the DW in North Shields, they had shorts there, but I cleaned them out of socks. I got them to call the DW in Byker, who said they have socks but I didn't ask about shorts.

The shorts don't seem to be in nearly as short a supply, so if I were you I'd try Byker. I would've got another pair of socks for you if they had any more in North Shields. There may well be one of these rajis who doesn't want socks too small, I dunno.

If you hadn't guessed btw, teams and s*** will be on paper before the match tomorrow. That'll give me something to do at work.

Pre-match warmups will be held by Stu, and I'd like you to be quite rigorous. Nobody likes warming up before a game, but it most certainly helps once the match has started.

P.s. Stu, this is my way of telling you you're head warm-up guy.

Which is exactly why you should be doing a warm-up, get the heart rate going up to 80% and the muscles in the body 2/3 degrees warmer before kick-off. Reduces the chance of injury during the game by 120%.

Well done lads, good of everyone to get a hold of the yellow kit too - the pictures look pretty smart (except fot Nut's shorts...)

Brief Match Ratings:

Greg (Greg) - GK: 7 Could have stayed on his feet longer for their goal but held his nerve impeccably during the last 20minutes to protect the win. Could improve on the consistency of his distribution.

Gary (bowlingcrofty) - CB: 7 Steady throughout the game but caught out for their goal due to a lack of communication with his fullbacks.
Chris (N.U.T. Chris) - CB: 7 A vastly improved performance from the 'short-haired, multi-lingual show-stoppa'. More than made up for any misplaced passes on the pitch by sinking home the Away Team's dirty pint and maintaining their superiority over the Home Team. Top Banana!
Paul (TheEnforcer) - Fullback/Central Midfielder: 6 Never played in defence during the match but worked hard up and down the left hand side, linked well with QBG in the first half but drifted up front in the second half, never to be seen defending again. Chundered EVERYWAH. Banter.
Stu's dad - Fullback/Central Midfielder: 6 Vastly experienced and let his brain do most of the running, almost gifted Muzza a goal in the first half but recovered just enough to put him off.
Lee (jonbobson's Mate) - Fullback/Winger: 6 The lad in blue boots loved to get forward, unfortunately his team mates rarely gave the ball to him. Worked hard in the first half to get back but was caught out of position (although no-one was covering) for their goal. Did well considering he didn't know anyone on our team and was played out of position.
Andrew (duffylad) - Defender/Midfielder: 8 Stellar performance in central defence, dominated the opposition attack and played the ball out of defence brilliantly. Grew in confidence during the match, as evidenced by his second half forays into the opposition box.

Nick (QBG) - Left Back/Left Midfield: 8 Great debut from the undersized left back, his initial shyness belied a certain composure on the ball and raided the left flank in tandem with The Enforcer during the first half.
Nick (Greg's Brother) - Utility Player: 6 Had some success down the right wing with Lee in the first half but that ended once MKSC came outfield and dominated their defence. Tidy in possession and competed well.
Stu (Steve) - CM: 7 Consistently inconsistent. Went close with a free-kick and directly from a corner, shot wildly from outside the box after winning the ball and beating three of their players. Should have done better but found the going tough on the bigger surface.
Chris (ObiChrisKenobi)- Winger/Striker: 6 Quiet in the first half but sprung to life in the second, probably involved in one of the goals. Made some good runs down the left and was unlucky not to score from a corner.
Chris (Slim) - Fullback/Midfielder: 8 Bit of a disturbing fetish for auto-erotic asphyxiation which came to light in an empty "Get Y'Skates..." but was forgiven by his team mates after putting in an all-action performance, culminating in an attempt to score a 'Nicky Nolan' in the second half. Battled well throughout the match. Nice suit.

Phil (SEMTEX's Mate) - Winger/Striker: 7 Tidy player who looked the most likely to score in the first half, had his partnership with Dan broken up by the arrival of goal-scorer Pete but deserved a goal after creating so many chances for himself and others.
Dan (SEMTEX) - ST: 6 Would have been an 8 if he hadn't thought that trying to lob a 6'4" keeper from 8 yards out was a good way to score  made some good runs during the first half and exposed the other side's lack of pace at the back, leading to some delicious hacks by their flailing defenders. Should have scored. Should have scored. Should have scored. Should have scored. Sandra would have.
Peter (Greg's Brother's Mate) - Winger/Striker: 9 MOTM and match-winner for the away side, took his chances well and could even have had a hat-trick by the end; however, two goals were enough thanks to the hard work of his teammates in stoppping the opposition. Quick on the ball and always giving himself as an option - could be an IFA star.

Game of opinions, no-one got a 'bad rating' (6 is average). People are always going to remember what they did more than anyone else.
