I would like to get up for this one if possible, probably won't know till nearer the time though. If it looks like we might seal promotion/title this day then it makes it more likely that I will get there.

Can you let me have the details for Saturday when you have them? Our first team are at Barrow thursday evening and a few of our crazy lads are travelling straight over, the rest are travelling up on Friday so either way there may be one of two headaches on Saturday morning!

Looks like we have a squad of 15 or so.

If you've never received a text message from me before, can you please send me your mobile number by TUESDAY EVENING.

Otherwise, you can't play.

Hi guys, congratulations on confirming promotion.

We're all looking forward to Saturday morning's game here at Kiddy. I'm one of the 'crazy' ones going up to Barrow tomorrow night and travelling across on Friday, so apologies if there's a few hangovers and a bit of tiredness knocking around! Hope you'll be able to point us in the right direction for more beers after we (hopefully) beat Gateshead in the afternoon!

Cheers,

Sussex Harrier

Just a shot in the dark here; does anyone fancy themselves as a goalie? Would be a shame to drop the smoggy Andy Carroll like, and it fills me with doubt relying on Burnip up there.

Er, if Greg can make it during the first half then surely NSG can go in net until Greg gets here and warms up. He could even come on at HT to save him rushing.

Put Nick up front 2nd half.

Okidoki, I know where it is now - just on Blakelaw playing fields where Montague North Fenham sometimes used to play. I should be able to make it their for 10/half past no problem I would imagine.

5-3 defeat. From 5th to 70th minute was probably best we've played so far. 2 down in 5 minutes, 2 all at half-time. Went ahead early in second half then the old fitness thing kicked in. Good game and sunburn to go with it!

Who scored?

Sorry I couldn't make it down to watch today. Only read Stu's PM this morning when it was too late, and I was a little battered from last night. Sounds like it's the same sort of fitness problems as the other games, should get better with time. Good effort!

Their first two goals were basically because we were not switched on for the two crosses.  They were both very early goals.
Their goals
The first was a cross was (I can’t remember who) was beaten in the air...Good cross though.

The second was a corner.  Cross came in and I don’t know if he lost his man or was just not picked up but it dropped to him and he placed it in the opposite corner.

After that our defence was solid until the subs again. We had plenty of chances after they scored their 3rd but it was not to be. I will let some other people explain our goals as I am at work at the moment but as with all the games there are plenty of positives.

I would say some individual mistakes cost us and 9 times out of 10 they would not have been punished for them.

Anyway it was a good game that again we should have won.  These guys are very high in our league so be proud.

If we can take our performance from the 20th min – 60ish min we are going to do a lot better.

Enjoyed it today, even if I did only play 20 mins due to being an unfit f***er  ;D I'm working on it guys, been a few years since I played football and it shows on the legs. Were some good footballers in the team, and I reckon we'll do ok next season if people take even semi serious about the fitness.

Heza was like a waltzing Shola up front, with some footwork to get through the defense that never should have worked! Just a shame he didn't pull the trigger, but that'll come with time. Not sure if thats a running theme with the team, but it took us nearly 15 mins to have a shot at goal, and when we started we usually scored.

Rocker in the middle was really impressive, the guy looked absolutly f***ed when he came off. And Stu seems to have a good motor on him, kept going. The big lad at the back (can't remember name) was a pretty sound defender too as was Slim at Left Back.

--

Highlight of the game for me was after the match.

Some guy in his car, was slowly and cautiously driving down the path towards the club house when this woman with three dogs went total mental. Shouting and balling at him as if he was bombing it towards her with evil intent, and fire flaming from his arse. She was 100+ yards away and her dogs were walking towards the car.

"WATCH ME DOGS, WATCH ME f***ing DOGS!"

Car no where near them.

"I'LL GET YOUR f***ing DONE YOU POSH c***!"

Car no where near.

f***ing mental.

Aye, that was Rocker's mate Dave. He had a cracking game today, much better than his last match on the wing O0

Apologies to all today, I had my worst NOFC game - didn't get much sleep last night and drove up from Ldn this morning - wasn't a particularly impressive performance. Kiddi were a decent team though, that lad with the left foot in midfield is a beast.

We're planning to go drinking with them in town at 9.30 if anyone fancies sharing a beer with them and chatting about the match.

Enjoyed it today lads, some really good performances across the park. We're definitely getting there like.

My arsehole's about ten times the size after the ordeal with that left-winger. Couldn't put up with the begger at all.

There was no bad shifts today aside from mesen, but particular praise to Heza (quality midfield destroyer, loved how you waltzed through the defense on occassion, too), Slim (best game for us so far, really good on the ball) and Dan Heneage (beautiful little finish and he looked chuffed to pieces, good on the lad).

Really good to have a load of new lads along aswell. Shame we didn't see much of the Muzzman but that's just sods law init - you looked in a pretty bad way like. Nice cameos from Jonbobson and ObiChris aswell.

Nut and Crofty are forming quite a formidable partnership at the back and i do like having three men in the middle. Stu, Dave and Heza all hassled and harried and we won a lot of possession. I think it's worth sticking with.

Sounds like you had a good game lads. That big guy in the middle is a decent player. He ran the game against the Hampton lads when we played them a couple of months ago, basically made the difference between us beating them and them beating us.

Keep up the good work. I got 90 minutes in today in a 5-2 defeat against Kingstonians, although we were 5-0 down with me up front in the first half and won the second half 2-0 when I went to center back. I'm not sure if I was a rock at the back or just s**** upfront. Either way I feel I made a difference.

Next season should see some progress if we can get a good core of lads together regularly, the fitness and understanding will come.

We got a corner and everyone was in the box, bar the defenders... and Dan Burnip. Dan used some tactics +1 and hid behind the ref making a late run from behind him into the area.   ;D :shifty:

Well played today chaps. Obviously my first time and in all honesty I thought I did a Nolan and went missing second half. Nevertheless, I appreciate the comments. Personally I reckon our strongest aspects (no offence to the other lads who also played a good, hard game) were probably our keeper, two centre halves, Stu and Dave or Rocky or whatever the f*** he was called lol. Basically it was the people who seemed to either have a good engine or be able to read the game. Stu has a good engine and the centre backs could read the game really well I felt, it's just a case of everyone getting to know each other, everyone get a string of games together and everyone finding some match fitness from what I could see. We seemed fairly quiet and quite simply f***ed at times today - me included - me especially second half lol.

Good to see lads organising this though, you deserve a lot of credit regardless - I enjoyed the experience even though we did lose, it was nice and friendly but competitive too.

TBF I'm clueless in midfield, the fact that I had a lot of other people around me who were in their natural positions is what helped, because they could tell me what to do.

Enjoyed it at CM though, gave me a chance to get forward which in the past I've rarely had the chance to do.

Properly goosed this morning, my left hamstring is very sore - thanks Nixon for the "run it off" comments from the touchline!

Thought we did pretty well though, we were fairly solid at the back (save for my usual Boumsong moments) and it wasn't until late on where again, fitness showed through.

Good game though and we're improving with every match

Yeah, I heard you say that you needed to be subbed off but had no idea you'd been subbed!

I know the general theme is that we need to improve our fitness which is pretty much down to the individual.
Things like team work and understanding will only come through playing more matches together.

However, there are a few small things we can do before & during the match - on their own, they're not that important, but 'every little helps' - like having one of the subs run our line (not Nixon as he's trying to manage subtitutions, formations, etc [ED: and he can't keep up with play?]), having the other subs on the halfway line ready to come on so we can make rolling subs throughout the game, etc.

What's the general view on a post-match (NOFC or NUFC) drink? There's a few lads who make the effort each game to meet up, but it would help to get to know each other (and thank the opposition for travelling up) if we did more than just go our own way after the NOFC game has ended...

Match report from Kidderminster:

ave Goode scored a hat-trick to secure a victory in the north east of England as part of a Fans Team excursion to Newcastle. Chris Lacey and Mark Young also grabbed a goal each in an epic 5-3 victory for the touring Harriers Fans Squad.

Most of the 13 man squad met in the North East night spot during the Friday afternoon but were soon accompanied by the ‘Barrow 6’ which included Adam Matthews, Mike Peplow, Luke Mansell, Morgan Nock, Andy Lander and Simon Jarasinski, who had all travelled from furthest Cumbria after the watching the Harriers encounter with Barrow on the Previous evening. Once the entire squad were assembled Manager Mark Connolly strictly set out the ground rules for the night’s festivities which included an 11pm curfew and a maximum 4 units of alcoholic intake. Needless to say the Player-Manager led by example and the entire team made it safely to the venue of the next day’s game against the Newcastle United Fans without incident.

The game itself was a fantastic display of Fans Team Football etiquette played in an incredibly friendly manner. The Harriers went 2 nil up within 10 minutes as Dave Goode scored one and setup Mark Young for the second; however the visitors took their foot off the gas and let the home side pull 2 goals back to go in at the break with the scores tied at 2-2. Soon after half time the Harriers got the kick up the backside they needed when they went 3-2 down. However a clever tactical change and slice of luck when the home keeper spilt a cross at the feet of Chris Lacey, who made no mistake from 2 yards, meant that the Harriers were once again in the ascendency. Under heat of the hottest day of the year so far it was the visitors who finished the game stronger and two more goals from the stand out Dave Goode meant that the Harriers came out of the game as the victors.

Our North-East counterparts proved to be fantastic hosts and an incredibly friendly bunch of lads. The meeting will hopefully be the start of a friendship which would see the newly promoted Premier League team visit Kidderminster for a return leg when they visit the likes of Aston Villa and Birmingham City.

Finally, rumours of the curfew being broke by the entire squad including the management were quashed, however an internal investigation is under way after reports of late night over indulgence. A Facebook photo amnesty has also been called for while investigations take place.
