Post by: johnnypd on Sunday 22 October 2006, 04:59:38 PM
roeder has no clue how to change a football match once it is underway. once again we start off the best side for the first hour or so, ripping boro apart at times in the first half, and once again we come away with a defeat. i don't think he has any presence at all on the touchline. and what was with leaving nzogbia on the bench till the 89th min? it was obvious we needed a substition from around 60-70 mins.
Title: ** 2 things about the boro match

2 things about the boro match that ended just now (1-0).

Number 1 : I really think that Yakubu looks like Bramble

Number 2 : Roeder was stupid not to play Rossi
Title: Re: Middlesbrough 1-0 Newcastle United - Post Match Thoughts.
Post by: BooBoo on Sunday 22 October 2006, 04:59:49 PM
Roeder aint got a clue. It was obvious that pace was going to be our major strength versus Boro so why when Sibierski came off didnt Rossi come on- in fact the lad would be better off at Man Utd reserves rather than warming our bench. The leaden foot Shola shows no signs of forming a partnership with Martins- who looks out of his depth.

Just got a text off my Boro mate who said "Christ i thought we were bad, but you lot are shocking."

Shepherd and Roeder out.

Its simply not good enough.

Well I am not surprised, I've said all along that Roeder is out of his depth. He has taken 3 sides towards relegation, so why should we be any different, although some on here choose to ignore this fact.
Sure we can beat the likes of Charlton, Sheff utd but will that prove anything, as soon as we meet anyone decent it will be the same old story.
What is the point of bringing Rossi on board if you are not going to use him and why bring NZogbia on as late as this. Ridiculous.

8 goals, 7 points and 6 defeats already from 9 games tells it's own worrying story. 2 points above the relegation zone but although I punched my couch several times after they scored I somehow feel less angry than last week's shambles so I presume apathy is setting in.

Roeder, for all his qualities (honesty, passion, dedication, modesty, and just being a genuinely nice person), is simply not up to the job. He has to go.

BUT that will not happen any time soon as long as Shepherd is the chairman. I'm sure Shepherd sees his own personal integrity as more important than the future of the club. Plenty of Championship clubs have already gotten rid of misfiring managers. Roeder won't take this club forward. Injuries, missed opportunities, whatever, I don't care. We've good enough players to be doing better than we are. A couple of good wins in Europe aren't enough for me.

I really hope I'm not being too kneejerkist but I think Roeder has to go. Now.

And why is Luque still not being given a chance?

Roeder needs to go and now!

HITZFELD OR BUST

I don't blame roeder, he's just out of his depth! The person I blame and will always blame is the fat f*** upstairs, he needs a good kicking.

But as always Roeder will be the scapegoat, and unless were really lucky, were going down.

The players aswell should not escape our wrath, they need to perform or get the f*** out of our club, this is one of the darkest days in our history.

Loosing is bad enough, but to listen to the w***** alistair brownlee makes it all the more sikening!   :wullie: :wullie: :wullie:

I strongly disagree, to an extent. As a whole, yes, the squad isn't strong or deep enough. But there are some great individual talents here and I for one would love to see a manager good enough to get them playing at their superb best.

How much better were we without that lazy foreigner Emre in midfield?

from the sounds of the radio we played pretty well. certainly we started off very brightly and were all over boro for the majority of the first half. though of course, we started games just as brightly with Emre in the side as well. People like to focus on one or two individuals in the team as if they are to blame for all our problems (even saying emre faked the fener injury for example) when in fact the real problems are higher up the chain of command. Liam RIdgewell was arguably the worst defender in the division last season, and has looked one of the best this season, simply because of a change at the top. even the lampooned titus bramble has looked good under better managers. we can replace as many individual players as we like but until a change is made for the better at managerial level we won't be successful. and we aren't going to get that right until we have another chairman so it seems like we're in for a bit of a wait.

Just a thought... is it coincidence that our fortunes have changed where Roeder's concerned since Alan Shearer stopped co-managing at the end of last season? I know some people won't want to hear that as they hate the thought of Big Al having anything to do with the club but it's a fair observation.

well roeder has very little charisma or presence or natural authority. he is the most boring man to ever have spoken on radio. so there is the possibility that shearer helped in this regard.

Could be.But dont think we will try to hire Shearer and make him the assistant manager again. And considering most part of the matches the two were involved were relatively against weaker opponents,it is no surprise.

f***ing s****.

First-half diagnosis?

First 20 minutes was actually pretty good, passed it around well and a few good through balls to Martins. He should have scored like. Boro had a few shots but from my seat I had no idea if they went miles wide or just a little bit.

Second-half diagnosis?

Absolutely toss. Defended ok, just had absolutely nothing upfront. Huth and Woodgate were really solid but we didn't test them greatly. Why does Duff get the ball and expect the overlap from the left back who is a right footed centre back? Can't he realise that that tactic won't work well with Ramage?

Full-time diagnosis?

w***. We're 3 points from 20th place, going to be a LONG season.

Star man for United?

Parker was excellent as ever, I thought Taylor and Moore had decent games too.

Worst United player?

Milner/Ameobi. Don't see what anyone sees in Milner in the slightest, i'm quicker than he is.

Opposition comment?

Didn't deserve any more than we did, 0-0 would have been fair. Sitting for 90 minutes surrounded by Smoggy children in silly red caps wasn't a great experience either.

Toon-pros?

We nearly kept a clean sheet.

Toon-cons?

We really don't look like scoring from open play, why the f*** does no one shoot from outside the box? Oh, and why the f*** did we give Nicky Butt a shooting chance from a free kick at the end?!

Post-match feelings?

Roeder is a divvy, why bring Zog on in the 88th minute? Was he playing for 0-0 all of the second half?

Our fortunes have changed because of one thing only, Roeder isn't good enough and he hasn't got the lift of Souness leaving.

Just got back. Quick thoughts. What a joke we have become. What the hell was the point in bringing in Zoggy for Milner with 2 minutes to go?! 3 great chances missed - Boro had one off the line and a great save from Harper as their main efforts apart from the goal. I've yet to see the goal on tv to see who, if anyone, was to blame. 7 points from 9 games is disgraceful. We simply must take 6 points from the next 2 home games to try and drag ourselves out of the s***.

How can people make comments like "Roeder Out" when they haven't even been to the f**king" match!!!

Yeah.

Leaving the zog till the 89th minute was disgraceful.

Playing Ramage at left back.

Oh, and before anyone says 'he's the only one we have available', whose fault is that?

I was there.

Ramage is a CB not a LB.
Carr is awful
Taylor played well
Butt didn't show up at all. Duff didn't beat a man all game except for his run where he was 5 yards out and rolled it to Schwarzer
Milner was as slow I've ever seen a winger.
Martins was a headless chicken
Sibierski was superb
Shola was poo

WE WANT SHEPHERD OUT

We're not 16th in the league and one depeat from a relegation position because of today, it's because of what we've done so far this season and part of that is down to our tranfer window, take your blinkers off.

I couldn't believe Roeder's reaction to us going a goal down. Did he try and get a message to the players to change the system as we now needed a goal? Did he make a quick change, bringing Zoggy and/or Rossi on to take the game to Boro? Did he f***. He sat on his arse without a f***ing clue what to do.

I am not defending Roeder I am now seeing he was a bad choice! Are the players as s**** as our performances suggest, would it help having a quality manager in.

Even though we have s**** defenders I refuse to believe that some talented manager couldn't at least cut some of their mistakes out.

Its a horrible feeling before any match these days, I dread hearing the result I am always thinking the worse. Freddy you left it too late last time with Souness a change of things took us up to 7th not the same mistake again, get someone in now and they can asses the squad and make changes in January.

Just a thought... is it coincidence that our fortunes have changed where Roeder's concerned since Alan Shearer stopped co-managing at the end of last season? I know some people won't want to hear that as they hate the thought of Big Al having anything to do with the club but it's a fair observation.

Our fortunes have changed because of one thing only, Roeder isn't good enough and he hasn't got the lift of Souness leaving.

 blueyes.gif

We simply cant underestimate how great the feeling of relief was when Souey left. It lifted the players and fans but now I honestly would be hard pressed to say which team is performing the worst. The current side of the one from 10 months ago. I certainly couldnt see this side beating the likes of Arsenal or Blackburn.

Roeder has Pearson as assistant, so would be surprised if he goes just yet.   Agree about Shearer's imput in the team, they had a good understanding.   One mistake and we lost.   If they had scored in the 10 minute, I think it would have been a very different game.   Roeder thought he had the point, not a clever way to play.

I wouldn't be laughing if:

My team only just beat a f***ing woeful NUFC
I had to listen to that c*** on Century every week
My club is so small-time that they play music when someone scores
I consider a game against a team 43 miles away a derby

Other than those, laugh away.

Just what did you expect?

Ive said it before and ill say it before, second rate s****.

Until something massively changes, its going to be same old same old.

Like ive said in earlier threads, who can you see us beating? And dont bring up the sugar coated pile of s**** that was our win against Fenerbache.

Ramage our man of the match through the week in my view, and what does the tactically inept roeder do?Yea puts him back at left back..Tosser tbh.

Not going to waste my time dredging over old s***...Shepherd and Roeder have to go simple as that, maybe only relegation and the s*** share price that goes with it stop our years of second rate s****...

Lets hope something happens and soon.

just seen MOTD, don't see what everyone is getting upset about, looked 50:50

also the possession was 50:50 also, not bad for an away game

agree about not bringing the Zog on though

and how the f*** is it a 'derby' when the home ground isn't full by a long shot FFS

The league table doesn't lie, we have been so s**** this season we deserve to be where we are.

I don't think even the most optimistic of us can see many positives at the moment.

You lot are absolute jokers, can't argue about the football so go on about the attendance, you're that daft you don't even think about the size of the population or the amount of s**** football we've had to put up with over the last few years. When you take all these things into consideration you'll see that we do very f***ing well attendance wise. You lot are in the middle of a really bad spell of watching s****, a far cry away from the golden Keegan years, if this continues just see your attendances plummet.

As for the music after the goals and the naughty comments by page, yeah i agree but the reason all these things are in place is because Boro fans were begining to get a reputation like the likes of Leeds, Sheff utd, Everton etc etc with all this Frontline crap so Steve Gibson changed it round to a family atmosphere and although it makes me cringe hard and annoys the hell out of me when people der der der i'd much rather it be like that then the way your fans were behaving in the car park, that was alot more embarrassing in my opinion.

As for the actuall game, we were dreadfull today was one of the worst desplays ever and an awfull game of Football but we were the better side in my opinion. I've not seen much of Martins so i can't really comment to much but he looked shocking yesterday, your best player was Sibierski and i think that speaks volumes for you at the moment. Having said that Euell was probably our best player so touche.
