The great thing about Newcastle upon Tyne is in the city you very rarely see any other shirt other than the toon, that's unheard of anywhere else.  In Belfast it was all Chelsea shirts when I was there.

over here in Ireland the place is full of Glory Hunters its pathetic, i am a 100% Newcastle fan and will never change, ive seen about 5 people in the last 2 years in my City wearing Newcastle tops, there is a supporters club somewhere in Newry (where i live). And all the manure, liverpool, arsenal and chelsea fans laugh at me because im a newcastle fan, mainly because of how bad they where doing, some even said "You should change team". f***ing glory hunters make me sick

To be fair, it's normal. During the Keegan era there was a huge surge in Newcastle replicas in Asia too -- when just a few years before people were asking me what sports I was watching when I said I supported Newcastle.  :)

I'm not quite sure which English team someone from Derry should support.

Carlisle or Blackpool or Liverpool, not sure which is their 'local' team and would stop people from accusing them of being glory hunters.

I live in the Midlands, God knows why i started to support Newcastle but ive supported them since i was about four (must have been the first team i saw on tele or something) but i fell in love with the toon. Anyway back to the topic around 60/70% of midlanders are glory hunters. I even know one lad that changed from Wolves to West Brom when Wolves went down n Baggies came up lol. The rest all support Manure, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelski. There are obviously a few who support the baggies and villa etc but there are more glory hunters than people who support there local team. No to many Walsall fans round tbh!

At least the glory hunters know what they are "supporting".  Find someone in the states who is wearing a kit and ask them what the team is and they most likely wouldn't even know that.

"The team is called Arsenal?  I bought it because this is what Spike Lee wears..."

Bullshit.

There are a lot of Man United fans, and increasingly a lot of Chelsea fans. Glory hunters everywhere.  A lot of Arsenal fans too-- glory hunters, people who have lived in  or around London, and fans of beautiful football.

Who accused them of being glory hunters?

I can't see how anyone who supports the toon is a glory hunter.  Kids want to be associated with success.  It doesn't matter where you're from, you support the toon for a) b) or c) reason.   However if in the future the toon are succesful I feel sorry for non-Tyneside based fans, because people will just say they support the toon because they're glory hunters.

Sorry, thought it was rather clear that I was referring to Americans... and if you are arguing that fact then you are mistaken.  Man U?  Yeah, there are plenty of people with that kit... probably because you get one free with season tickets to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Case in point:
Ask an American in a Man U top to name five players in the squad... chances are, the only name you will get is Wayne Rooney and probably David Beckham as well....

Granted, this isn't always the case...

The worst thing is Geordies who support these said mentioned clubs.

Where I used to work there was a Geordie man u fan who never went to the matches but wore a different man u strip every other day and it used to p*ss me right off.

I used to think "what the feck is he thinking?, he should get his self to a Newcastle match and have some feckin pride in the area he hails from, instead of stolling round in that feckin top"

Thats what these glory hunters dont realise, they have no idea footballs all about supporting your local team and having pride in your area however s**** they both might be.

i don't have any problem with anyone who wants to support any football team

it's just the fact if you ask them anything about the football club, all they know is that jose is the manager and they only know a few of the players like lampard, terry and duff

basically i hate fans who are plastic, claiming they support and love the team but only jump on the bandwagon when the team are performing well but when the teams hits rock bottoem doesn't win anything they change to another successful club

Just to let you that I made the choice by supporting Manchester United was not because of glory seeking, it was because the Premiership was created for entertainment and Newcastle had lost their flare after Keegan had left, so I chose Man Utd purely because of entertainment values and not glory.

I am glad you find me hilarious. And I am also glad that you have linked me, because that will only improve the quantity of web traffic coming to my website. Thank you for that.

And I do not intend on reading anyone's incessant ramblings, I only came here to make my point and I do not intend to join in your teenie bopper arguements, Thank you.

May I also point out that we at a society have the free will to choose or do whatever we want, I chose Man United and that has nothing to do with you and it should'nt be any of your concern.
Manchester United is my life and my passion, and I have been way more passionate about Man Utd than I ever have been with Newcastle to begin with, and just because a bunch of ignorant charver geordies are sore about someone who used to support Newcastle suddenly changing and supporting a better team than them, well, like I said, it's got nothing to do with any of you. Why do I have anything to be ashamed about? On the contrary, it's quite the opposite, Manchester United are an excellent club to support and I when I did support Newcastle, I was only a kid, I didn't know any better, when I turned 16, it was a new chapter in my life and supporting Manchester United has been the best choice I've made.

Sorry but you're just sore end of story.

Actually I was born in Gateshead, so basically, I am not really a Newcastle born person to begin with and besides, it's my life, my choice, all I am faced with is upset, sore, geordies.

What really upsets them the most is that I am supporting a team that has been places and achieved things that no other club like Newcastle has done, it's calle jealousy and the best cure for that is to accept that there are better teams out there and Newcastle have really been misfortunet and they can't keep a manager for more than 2 years, atleast we have a manager that has broken records and has been successful and has changed the clubs fortunes.

No i'm not. I'm glad i grew up here and i'm proud of it and i'm proud to support MY team and always will do. If you can change teams just like that then you don't know the meaning of the words PASSION. Everyone was just a kid when they first started supporting Newcastle. Thats what makes it so special. You grow up and go through good and bad times. You don't jump ship during the bad times though.

Actually put it this way, I was born in Gateshead, right? So am I meant to support Gateshead FC who are at the moment, lingering in the Unibond league.

So if I was a geordie, I would want more entertaining football, I know, let's support Newcastle because they are in the top flight of british football. So that's basically the same as glory hunting because Newcastle are in the top flight.

I chose Manchester United because they play exciting football and in that respect, they play entertaining and exciting football and manage to achieve things along the way (ie. trophies).

At the end of the day, I am a Man United fan and supporter, I've been to their games and watched them, I am happy and I have made my bed and I intend and I will support Man United till the day I die, I am proud of being a Man United supporter, just like yous are proud of being Newcastle supporters.

 Thats just a rubbish argument using Gateshead to try and get your way out of this and it wont work. People from Newcastle and the surrounding areas nearly all support Newcastle. You chose Man United because you are a glory hunter and will never understand how it feels to be a proper fan of a team cos you only wanna know the good times. To appreciate the good times properly you have to go through the bad times as well. You havent got this now, and you are not from anywhere near Manchester therefore you will always be a gloryhunter. When we go to Old Trafford we always sing "taxi for London". I dunno why, we might as well chuck "taxi for Gateshead" in there as well.

What about James Nesbitt from Cold Feet? He's Irish and a Manchester United supporter.

You see, Manchester United is a global club, there are fans all over the world, it doesn't matter where you live, you could support Barcelona and could still live in Madrid. It's where your true heart is, and it wasn't with Newcastle because I was only a child at the time.

It's also ironic how you Newcastle fans keep slating me with your replies and you do not even want to have a mature discussion, all you do is say that I am a 'gloryhunter'. Please for once, can I talk to a geordie who is mature and doesnt keep slating me with slander or foul comments. It just shows who the cretins are how un-compareable we all are.

Well originally I supported Man Utd because they played good football and won trophies.  After 1999 they got a bit rubbish so I then followed Arsenal because they played entertaining and exciting football and won trophies.  However recently I've been supporting Chelsea cos they've tended to win things the most.  I'm proud to be a Chelsea supporter until someone better comes along. bluebiggrin.gif

I was only a kid when we got beat 4-3 of Liverpool and it hurt me as much as any match since then because my heart was there then as well as was most peoples. Who cares about James Nesbitt? Why do you think Man United have fans all over the world? Its because the lot of them are a bunch of gloryhunters, like you. They will never be proper fans and neither will you. Your heart will never be with Man United properly. I don't care how much you say it is.

I am so passionate about Manchester United, I felt all the pain too, losing to Arsenal in the FA cup hurt me alot.
And losing Beckham and Keane were also hurtful times too.

I do not care what you think, just because I was born here doesn't mean I have to support the nearest Premier League team. No one in Gateshead supports Gateshead, and why is that? Because they are not in the Premiership.

Do you ever consider what real professionals go though? Moving from club to club, finding a new heart, dumping the team they supported as a kid, and why? because they are playing for the team they are paid to play for, that goes for managers too.

People in Gateshead do support Gateshead. It just so happens that most people in the surrounding areas have supported Newcastle for years, and therefore when kids are brought up these days they are brought up supporting newcastle 9 times out of 10. Its comical that you think you are a massive Man United fan when you started "supporting" them when you were 16. Absolutely no way. My grandchildren who will be born in approximately 30 years are bigger toon fans than you are a Man United fan.

Players do not dump the team they supported as a kid at all. They still love them when they move, its just they have got no way of showing it really. Just because a player moves to a different club and gives 100% on the pitch it doesnt mean he still doesnt love the team he supports as a kid. They are only doing their jobs. Being a football fan isnt a job, and you cant swap around when you feel like it because you would never let yourself do that. You done it because you haven't got a the mentality of a normal football fan, you just care about watching brilliant football every week. Being a toon fan has as many downs as it has ups, but i wouldnt want to change a bit of it.

Actually put it this way, I was born in Gateshead, right? So am I meant to support Gateshead FC who are at the moment, lingering in the Unibond league.
Yes

You and your like are worse than Mackems tbh.

Like I said, I will be supporting Man United all my life and there is no right or wrong thing about changing support. I just think you guys are very stubborn because you are all sore that I changed teams.

Newcastle are just an average shitty team and Glenn Roeder won't last five minutes under fatty Shepherd. Soon, you'll be lingering at the bottom of the table and I will be laughing it up when you guys go the same way as Sunderland.

Good day, I have no intention of wasting my precious time on this crappy forum and you sad loser charva Geordies, I hope you all have aids and die, thank you and goodnight.

When last awa the pond one of my yankee friends said "I don't follow sawker but if I did I'd have to follow man yoo, that Michael Beckman is a good player" Cue much p*ss taking and hilarity.

I have managed to convert a couple though

My best mate supports Manure, every time they're linked with someone, they are immediately the most up and coming talents ever!

Then when Newcastle are linked with RvN he is automatically s***.
Also Carrick, Rooney & Ronaldo are his favourites.

He has never been to a Manure game, he also supported sunland when he was younger, jeeeze.

Actually I was born in Gateshead, so basically, I am not really a Newcastle born person to begin with and besides, it's my life, my choice, all I am faced with is upset, sore, geordies.

You're a geordie as well.

The thing is, Newcastle United has a very strong emotional connection to the local area, therefore I've always been of the opinion that if you're from here, but support a side from outside the area then you've renounced you're right to be a Geordie.

Quote from: mufcgeordie's website vimix.net
Also it's been confirmed that 'Premiership title buyers, gloryhunters, sell-outs and Real Madrid wannabes' Chelsea, have scrapped Umbro for Adidas as their new kit sponsor, ofcourse they'll still be with Samsung.

How very dare they! I believe that's "calle jealousy and the best cure for that is to accept that there are better teams out there". Maybe now you're 16 and a half it's time to become a passionate life-long supporter of Chelsea. It could be the best choice you ever make (until the next one).

I don't see anything wrong with glory hunters, they are just seeking enjoyment. Whereas a loyalist commits himself to mediocrity and tries to justify his suffering with "football is a religion and I support [insert team] because I just do or because I live there" etc nonsense.

So someone wants to support Chelsea when they were a Watford fan, so what? who cares? why care?

From around January this year I didn't watch any game or took notice of any results, the domestic game has become a bore to watch, a waste of time.

I don't give a s*** about this type of 'supporter' until they claim they claim lifelong supporter status of their club of the moment. It's an insult to those who have supported a club properly through thick and thin.

I met a Chelsea fan back in 1975 when I joined up. I didn't see the bloke from 1977 right through to about 1998, when I bumped into him again by coincidence. I mentioned Chelsea to him, as they were doing quite well. To be fair to him, although Spurs were doing worse at that time he did claim to be a Spurs fan and had been for years, claimed he'd never supported Chelsea but I recall a long lecture from him about Chelsea and the great player that was Ray Wilkins. I think the Abramovich thing has become too much for him though and he's now a Chelsea fan again. Has been all of his life, apparently.  Bit daft, in my opinion.

Move from club to club if you must, but admit it.

On second thoughts.

Isn't a glory hunter someone who changes teams regularly by supporting whatever team wins the league? Therefore their only motivation for doing so is a child like "my team is better than yours", and they are not actually interested in the playing/watching of football.

Who are you trying to kid by saying you where a child changing teams? you said you where 16, not very young is it, i was nearly 17 so 16 when Newcastle got dumped out of the UEFA cup but Lisbon last year and my eyes had watered up as i was on the verge of tears with disappointment, thats what passion is, and i was 16 same age as you when you claimed to be too young to make right footballing dicisions.

First of all, I think you lot are bunch of ignorant tossers. You do not have a say in this arguement, anyone is entitled to support who they want to or change to whoever they want to.
Second of all, calling this guy names such as fatty is something I would expect from a bunch of ignorant morons such as yourself, and it's something I would expect in the school playground.

This guy has done nothing to you, and yet you all pitch in with malicious comments, because you have nothing to do during your summer holidays or perhaps you all prefer to be sitting on your arses all day on a computer, at the Job Centres expense and the tax payers expense at that.

Shut the hell up you are all talking out of your pathetic arses and all that comes out of your fat gobs is alot of bullshit.

Lee is right in saying that you should all die from AIDS because from where I'm standing, you serve no purpose at all and you have no right of existing because you people obviously sit on your arses all day and not particularly focused on making something of your meaningless lives.

Just wait and see in the next 10 years while he has a lovely house in a nice area of Gateshead (perhaps Rowlands Gill) while you lot, are still sitting on your fat arses on your computers, cheering on Newcastle Ushited, while living in your dirty rat infested council houses.

1 entry found for irony:

The words, "stick my cock up your arse and I will do the same" comes into mind, you f***ing bum chums.

Lee - You're my idol, atleast you have the maturity to stay out of this arguement, oh wait you got banned because the sad people on here can't bare to listen to you because you aren't a geordie f***er like these kiddies are. Oh well.

From Lee's official website:

Quote
I'm looking to get a new hairstyle... on Saturday... I'm out on the drink on Sunday night, so hopefully I can go on the pull with more confidence.

Totally agree with him. Before his corn-rows, I bet no girl would touch the f***er. But how can anyone compete now?

I think he's pulled already.

Lee - You're my idol

Poor deluded person  bluelaugh.gif. Do you reckon he is actually mentally retarded ?  He wouldn`t be able to walk from one end of town to the other down here with out getting his head kicked in for looking so stupid with corn-row.
Also going out on the pull on a Sunday night is what the muppets do, looking for the left overs no one else pulled on a friday or saturday.

I can honestly say that I find it hard to believe the person with corn rows can take himself seriously with that haircut.  He even looks as though he's laughing at his own stupidity in the photo.

No offense to you all, but it seem you\\\'re all fixated on that Manc Utd geordie with the cornrows which might I add add difference to having short back and sides. I think corn-rows are cool. I wish I had them. If anyone actually visits his site, you\\\'ll notice he\\\'s had his corn-rows taken out ages ago, check his webcam section. Oh and by the way corn-rows are not just for the black race, I have mates that have also had them and they are white caucasion men, which are Newcastle supporters and they are big fellas, perhaps you care to take the mick out them for their hair and weight? No? Because you know that they would hunt you down and kick the living crap out of you. Who\'s to say that Lee could be doing that right now?

You all seem to be picking on this kid for his hair and his weight which is stupid. Just because he supports a different team, whether or whether not he\\\'s a gloryhunter is not in question, you all seem obcessed with Lee.

May I suggest closing or locking this thread because we\\\'ve already been over the gloryhunting matters, yes they are scum, the end, goodbye, goodnight, ciao. etc etc.

Let this topic rest, it\\\'s been well over 3 weeks and I can tell Lee has moved on because he hasn\\\'t responded to the barrage of slanderous comments you have all made and so should all of you.

I chose Manchester United purely because that they were more entertaining to watch and at that exact same time they were Premiership and European champions, big deal? You can express your views/anger at this but I have supported Manchester United for over 7 years now and I have been more than happy with Man Utd than I ever have been with Newcastle United not because of the trophies because of the quality of play the players have set themselves, we\\\'ve have lots of great players and Manchester United is a wonderful club to support and I am proud of the fact I am expressing my desire for the club.

No one abused him, and if they did, it was ignored, because by rights he should've been banned for evading his ban.  We knew it was him before he even posted, we just wanted a laugh.  Well, they did, I wanted a BAN.

Threads get locked on here when a moderator decides that it's "going nowhere", i.e. they don't find it interesting anymore.  I'm amazed that they would be so unprofessional as to let a thread designed solely to abuse an overweight boy with silly hair go on for so long.  bluebigrazz.gif

Start a competition in Gen Chat for people to find a new one for you.  I can vaguely remember your old one, but it hasn't been around for so long I can't quite picture it.  Alternatively you could knock a version of it together on Paint and set people the task of finding it.
