  1. Fair play Rafa. 100% done the right thing. And with that, I'm joining him. Adios folks.
  2. Will be 50k first day of the season even if Mark Hughes is manager, Dennis Wise DOF and Joselu is starting as a lone striker. There’s the whole ‘support the team, not the regime’ argument but when does the point come when loyalty is something someone uses as a weapon against you? I’ve not spent a penny on the club in the last few years and have no plans to until Ashley is gone - unless there’s a complete change in support for Rafa. At what stage does the club become something our fans simply no longer want to be associated with? What would it take? There’s plenty of local clubs crying out for support in non-league and there you could at least be part of something. The fact it’s a consideration for many just sums up where we are.
  3. Think if that story is legitimate (standard 1 year deal and £50m to spend) he has to walk really and absolutely 100% wouldn't blame him for it. Only if the contract gives Rafa the option to walk at any time with no consequences/payments etc within that year would it be any kind of attraction. That way he could hang around and wait for this seemingly fictitious takeover not to happen.
  4. In classic ITK fashion, person I work with who has a fair few contacts in football still maintains the UAE deal has next to no chance of going through, but apparently there's an American consortium who aren't a million miles away from getting it done.
  5. I think if NUFC were offered nearly £10m for Joselu last January he would have been sold. I doubt Rafa would have blocked the transfer even if a replacement wasn't guaranteed. That would have been a near £5m profit. Frankly don't believe it would have been £10m. For every foreign player signed into China now, the club has to match the amount paid to the Chinese FA in order to help develop more Chinese players - so if they'd paid £10m their actual cost would have been £20m. £20m for Joselu.
  6. God forbid anyone has to read a link on the Chronicle. Also that article is absolute fluff.
  7. It’s crazy that I find my default Newcastle setting is expect the worst, just so I’m not disappointed. At the moment I fully expect the takeover to be completely fake, Rafa to leave and nobody of any note to join. So basically if anything of any positive aspect at all happens (Rafa stays, we sign a player with two legs, Ashley fecks off) I’ll be over the moon. As they say sometimes it’s the hope that kills you. This club.

Role will have next to nothing to do with discussing things with other clubs. The role as it is in football is essentially keeping the loan players in touch with the club make sure they're eating right, sleeping right, don't have any problems etc. Working on anything they need to do so from a development perspective. Some teams (Chelsea for example) create a WhatsApp group for all their loan players to keep in touch and share experiences etc. Has definitely become more common the last couple of years.
  9. Spoke to the person I know with the most contacts and knowledge within football, and he said from what he's heard there's probably about 2% chance of this deal going through. So at least my expectations were raised slightly.
  10. Would 100% take both. Chances are each would be upward of £20m in the crazy market, even with Fraser's contract expiring in 2020. McNeil fairly recently signed a new one until 2023. Don't think either are particularly likely mind, especially with Fraser being linked with teams like Arsenal.
  11. Yeah Celtic fan in my office said he's heard from an ITK that he's going to sign a three-year contract with Celtic. Would be extremely surprised if this is the case, but yeah. Would be absolutely tragic for a whole host of reasons.
  12. I think there's a difference between players who have done enough in the game or have been talked about in such a way you think they should have done substantially better here (Geremi, Smith, Butt, Obertan) and those that were just undeniably crap (Faye, Fumaca, Askew, Brady). Think next list will be worst ever Newcastle manager for signings. Bloody hate Souness as our manager so any excuse to blame him for this lot (especially considering he had money to spend): Ronny Johnsen Celestine Babayaro Jean Alain Boumsong Amdy Faye Scott Parker Belozoglu Emre Tim Krul Craig Moore Lee Clark Albert Luque Michael Owen Nolberto Solano Of those Parker, Emre and Krul (albeit not when Souness was there for the latter) did well, Luque was unlucky with his injury and Solano did well but was a strange transfer as it was part exchange for Milner going out on loan for a season. The rest were past it, utter scumbags (Owen) or crap.
  13. Special mention for Lejuene. No coincidence our form took a vast upswing when he came back from injury. Likewise shout out to Longstaff who did so well when he came in. Our Young Player of the Season even having only played ten or so games. But for me given his importance, it's difficult to look past Rondon. Schar and Perez have both done well, but without Rondon we'd likely be thinking about the Championship next season.
