Achraf Lazaar leaves NUFC by mutual consent

"Multiple Italian reports claim Palermo full-back Achraf Lazaar will complete his Newcastle United transfer today.

SportItalia and Gazzamercato both report a deal has been struck and the documents are being exchanged this afternoon.

Newcastle are due to pay €3.5m for the Morocco international left-back.

He’ll fly in to England this evening to sign a five-year contract.

There was a positive meeting today in Newcastle between his agent, Andrea Cattoli, and director of sport Lee Charnely.

Lazaar had also been on the radar of West Ham United.

We need it really, when you consider what our front 4 might be like at times. There is some pace there, but we could do with some genuine pace to add to it. The full backs being rapid is gonna be handy. I think we could do with a very quick AM/winger though.

Young defence like. Yedlin 23, Lascelles 22, Mbemba 22 (allegedly), Lazaar 24. It would be good if they could form a solid defensive unit which was capable of replicating it in the Premiership. Would love a good settled defence for once.
