José Enrique

Maybe he saw something in the mentality of a few players that ultimately led to our relegation.

I mean technically we should never have gone down with that squad. Individually there were some decent players in that side.

That squad would have finished easily in mid-table without the turmoil and with Keegan as manager.

Weird that Keegan tried to sell him. He ended that 07/08 season strongly with the rest of the team and looked the part.

Even weirder if it was to try and sign a right-back when Beye has been our Player of the Season.

That’s why I don’t trust the content of this interview.

To be fair, in the interview he seems to be saying the reason he's traditionally preferred Liverpool to Newcastle was Mike Ashley and how differently the two clubs have treated him since he played for them. Plus Gutierrez. I can sympathize with that...

He went on a podcast during lockdown. Pushing some business venture of his. But he spoke quite highly of the fans and the club, even then. Always got stuck into Ashley more than anything. Which I have a lot of time for.

He has defo always seen himself as an ex-Liverpool player first and foremost. So I don’t really see much difference in what he is doing now.

Probably still bitter about going in goal against us

Eh, fair. We all hated the club then too.
