I am currently watching our season review of 96/97. Just going to say that Batty goal vs Wimbledon has always been overlookrd but I remember it until today. Plus it was only a few days after Beckham's half way line  effort....against Wimbledon. So maybe that's why it's been overlooked and forgotten.

Beardsley's chip against Halmstads was neat too. Fuck. Shearer and Sir Les were piling them in at the start of the season. What a pair of wordclass strikers we had. Fuck you Joelinton. Almost forgotten about our current no.9 until I rewatched our past again.

Shearer record breaker v Portsmouth - Felt like crying with joy

Martins v Spurs when he nearly snapped the net

Robert v Spurs x2 in the 4-0 - Loved him growing up and his volley was borderline ridiculous.

Emre free kick in the 3-2 Mackem match - Scenes and again, felt like crying

Ryan Taylor over the wall - Celebrated a little bit too much and ended up with a bust nose from the bloke next to me punching me in the face as he went to raise his fist to the players. The roar was electric, though  :smitten:

Kluivert in the QF v Spurs - The only time I genuinely believed we were going to win the cup. One of the best atmospheres I have heard in SJP, too.

Not favourite for the technique, all for the emotion from being there to witness them.

KKs debut and winning goal v QPR must be up there when I think about it. Not a classic goal but to see the twice voted European footballer of the year, much capped by England now playing in black and white for us, an ordinary 2nd tier club was the stuff of dreams back then.

Was that the one from his own half where the ref blew just as he struck the ball?

Liam O’s two at Roker - for the quality of goal, I preferred his chip in the 91-92 season to his free kick the following season but the latter gets the plaudits as it was the winner not an equaliser and our first win there for 36 years!

Beardsley’s sliding tackle and chip against QPR in Keegans last game was my favourite “I was there” goal. The whole atmosphere. I was hanging on the fence in the west paddock behind the dugouts. After it went in and mayhem ensued Arthur cox turned (to me I thought) and said “what a fucking goal!”  He was right like.

That was Brighton. Big Joe Corrigan in goal.

Beardsley's left footer from outside the box away at Palace in '94 was amazing. So many Pedro goals are favourites of mine. His weird bicycle kick where both his legs just seemed to flop behind him over his head (can't remember who against), that one-two and volley against QPR (was it?), where he slipped it passed the diving keeper, then walked it in past 2 defenders diving on the line on that bobbly as fuck 6 yard box - Again, cant remember who against.
