Joelinton

Made the point of this in another thread but against West Ham he didn’t bother to chase down a nearby full back giving them loads of time on the ball. The good ball they made up field led to a 5-10 min spell of West Ham domination where they had several shots and corners.

If he can’t even be trusted to close down a full back having just come on as a sub, what can he be trusted for?

I genuinely saw more in Emmanuel Riviere than I do in this guy. There just nothing that stands out. He's slow, he's weak for his size. His touch is poor. He can't pass it very well. He can't dribble. He can't shoot.

If he was truly "being used wrong" I'd still expect some talent to be showing.

Cannot play up top alone in Steve Bruce's teams. He might look like a target man physically, but he isn't.

They cannot play the ball to his feet consistently enough for him to ever do anything good playing that lone striker role, so it's a bloody waste of time.

I hoped that at the very least the manager had realised this from last season. Hopefully it was only due to having a lack of other options.

Loan another striker asap and stop the foolishness.

He's rotten. Simple as that.

That chance when he had 3 players around him and decided to take a shoot and the ball just trickled across the ground basically summed him up. Shola had better movement than this guy and he basically just jogged.

 nah, don't think so.

Klopp likes him and has already used a player we got relegated with previously to go on and win the league, and so knows we specialise in mismanaging players.

Should try and swap him for Brewster or Origi who are both available and are more in line with what Bruce prefers.

Maybe Klopp will swap Joelinton for Origi then? ;)

The rumour is signing Joelinton for £40m was a sweetner to get Saint-Maximin for £16m. Does signing him make it worth while?

Sweetner for who?

Why would Nice give us a Saint-Maximin for a good price because we spunked 40 million on a Hoffenheim player?

Also, we had this fee agreed as far back as February.  We didn't start hearing about ASM until May/June from memory.

Joelinton at Liverpool kaka?  You mental? Gini is completely different to Joelinton. Gini scores 12 goals in a relegated team managed by Steve Mcclaren. Even at Hoffenheim managed by Naagelsmann  Joelinton only managed a few goals.

Don’t get me wrong I haven’t completely written him off. He has some physical attributes and despite what many have said I actually think he has a decent first touch but I don’t see how he’s going to Liverpool at all.

Does strike me as the kind of player who’ll do well once he leaves. It just doesn’t always click for some players.

He strikes me as a guy who finally had a good season under an awesome manager. He would have probably developed into the 40m player he was billed to be under one more season under the same manager.

But instead he joined our club in complete disarray and anger about Rafa. Replacing Rondon. Wearing the 9. Playing for Bruce.

I think his career is completely wasted and won’t ever get back on track because he’s missed likely 2 years of the most important years of development.

This club must really enjoy paying up front for failures. Moronic transfer policy.

I don’t want to right him off but think he’s truly never working here unless we get taken over and a manager makes him a pet project.

In Frimino's last season before joining Liverpool he scored 10 goals and had 12 assists in 36 games for Hoffenheim. It was his fourth season as a starter in the first team there.

In Joelinton's last season at Hoffenheim before making the worst decision of his life to join us he scored 11 goals and had 9 assists in 35 games. It was his first season as a starter in their first team.

Look this idea that we signed some bum from Germany is just false, and yes, it wouldn't be out of this world to think he could contribute to that Liverpool team playing a similar role to what Firmino does as his backup, as they don't have a similar forward when he is out of the team.

Firmino since joining Liverpool pretty much averages 11 goals and 9 assists a season, but he is so much more than that because of what he allows Sane and Salah to do as their goal scoring wide forwards. Although Joelinton is not an exact copy, he was heralded in Germany because of the contributions he made that allowed the other forwards in the team to shine in the same way. We signed him without having any wide men or strikers that get in behind and threaten the goal.

I have no doubt if we had signed Firmino, we would have been shitting on him too with such gems like: what's all this false 9 business!, he's not 'striking' right!, get in the box man!, work harder!, more passion!, so what if we have 20% possession score goals!. Firmino gets 11 goals a season in that Liverpool team, he certainly wouldn't get more than 3 under Bruce in our setup that's for sure.

We deserve a PFM man like Bruce man 100%. Wish people would stop pretending they want or are interested in anything different.

We have a talented young striker we just spent £40 million on who is struggling, and instead of looking at what type of player he is and asking why he is not being put in the right situation to even have a chance to succeed by our genius manager, everyone's lambasting the guy because he's not having success in a team with hardly any possession that launches balls at him from 50 yards. Just perfect.

That's utter s****. He's had plenty of chances to show what he's made of last season. He's pony. Even at Liverpool (the idea of him playing for Liverpool is hilarious btw) he would still be pony.

If he was so highly rated and "klopp likes him" why the f*** did he end up at Newcastle

Rafa was spot on not wanting him.

This a waste of my time. I've said all I care to about it.

Hope he gets a move as soon as he can manage it for his own good.
