On this day...

There won't be a better day until (if!) we win something!

20 years ago - dear me!

This is a great read http://www.nufc.com/html/1997-05-11forest-h.html

Superb!

Yep - before mobiles and nobody near us had a radio so we waited in SJP for the results via the tannoy!

Quite sad reading the "here's to another 50 goals" about Sir Les when he was sold just a few months later - a day before Shearer banjoed his ankle at Goodison! How very NUFC!

To be fair we were on that type of trajectory, in the same way it's enevitable Man City will one day win the CL just as Chelsea did. Then they appointed Gullit... they should have went all out for Sir Bobby after KK as we would have won something I feel and even after Sir Bobby we were well primed but they went for Souness...

I genuinely don't know what would happen to myself and half the match going population if we actually won a cup

maybe even the league cup man

I think I'd need at least a week off work. London and then the town would be bouncing for days and days!

“It just doesn’t get any better than this.” In truth, we both knew that one day we will win the League. In truth, we both knew that one day it WILL be better than this.

But it won’t be by much.

:okay:

Mannnnnnnn :(

I'm sure he said that we did but he had his contract at Barcelona which he was honouring, shame for them they didn't and very soon replaced him.

Remember watching that game live. Brilliant fun indeed.

Couldn't remember the goals too well, that turn on the first one by Mendonca is class... sends the two Sunderland defenders crashing into each other

I was in the Bahamas at the time and didn't see it and couldn't contact anyone who knew the score (mam and dad and inlaws were in Florida).

Eventually a kid at the casino rang his head office in Vegas to get me the score around midnight and I partied all night long.

Forgot how good the goals were. Even the penalties were terrific...apart from one .
