  1. Involved in the far-right "Football Lads Alliance" unfortunately. Shame about the fire, but I've donated 20 quid to kids in Gaza instead. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/democratic-football-lads-alliance-why-050000937.html

Wonder how many of them voted for the party that recoloured the Union Jack

But trying to pay homage to something in a kit and getting too artistic with it or getting it a bit wrong is something shirt designers do all the time. Hell, the mackems tunnocks teacake display was meant to be some homage to chevrons on an old kit, even though they were white and the display was silver for some reason. And that was done by fans rather than an American sportswear company. Every season, especially under Puma, we were given some speil about why they'd put spikes, or a shwoosh of colour on the stripes or something and lots of people said it was bollocks. To try and suggest some secret ulterior motive in the messaging (why do it and then hide it?) just comes across as a bit of a paranoid victim complex.

English football fans are of course known for treating the flag with the reverence it deserves

Why do you think it was changed then? Every time England have played in kits with non-traditional St George’s Cross The Three Lions have worn corrupted crosses on nine different shirts - and never worn the traditional English flag https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/england-played-no-st-george-cross-2969798

Did people lose it over the London 2012 Olympic gear with a recoloured union jack or were people just not as sensitive back then?

But... It's not like they've made it LGBT or BLM colours, it's colours relating to a training kit worn by the 1966 world cup squad. I thought banging on about ancient national victories was the exact opposite of woke?
