I'm actually pleased for him.  He's obviously not got the body for it anymore but his heart's still there.  Least he got one more for us before he's off to the glue factory.

I think that him being local was a big factor. Very smart move by Ashley really, he's been knackered for years but he'll still get choruses of "one of our owwnnn" ringing round the stadium.

Would respect Bruce more if he woke up and stopped trying to half arse it with Wilson and shelling balls up to him constantly. Evans/Fofana won't have an easier game this season.

Fair play to him.  Didn't expect that performance.

Good to see him running around for 90 mins as much as anything else, certainly didn't think he was capable any more. His finishing was shite though, but I suppose at least he got in the right areas.

Was good today like, obviously apart from those two sitters. Still think he can play a role for Steve Bruces Newcastle. The bars and pubs of Newcastle being shut has probably done him a world of good.

He's a far better option than Joelinton, which isn't saying much but for some reason with persist with the former just to try and justify his transfer fee.

Good comment. I didn’t want him anywhere the side, but yesterday he showed that if fully fit he can be a handful for the opposition still and that’s a bonus

Was surprised at his fitness levels tbh. He’ll be gutted he missed those chances

He got us pushing and playing further up the pitch.

Fitness has to be managed but he should be starting up too with Wilson as much as possible.

In my view the best system is with any tactical acumen something like this

Would worry massively about that defence.

Murphy is nowhere near a right back, Manquillo far, far superior there and Lewis looks really poor.

Carroll really impressed me yesterday though, fair play to him.
