  1. If we can get a really top class young talent procurer in then Ashworth leaving does have the potential to be a blessing in disguise, you'd think. Obviously a glass half full POV. Seems like much of what Ashworth does best he should have at least got the ball rolling on by now. Must say, when he came in one thing I was very excited about was the idea of doing what Brighton have done for years and finding players like MacAllister and Caicedo and bringing them in at affordable prices. Not necessarily unearthing gems for nowt, but getting them before they're going for superstar prices. Have we signed anyone other than Minteh that potentially fits that profile? Maybe Kuol? Not been for lack of trying, I suppose. The likes of Maximo Perrone and Andrey Santos we had longstanding interest in, a few others too. Feel like maybe we misjudged the market there, either in terms of how much they'd cost or whether those players would have more attractive options. Hopefully there'll be changes to FFP which will allow us to flex our financial might a bit more, otherwise getting a director who is going to find value for money in our transfer dealings is going to be the only way we can bridge the gap.
  2. Do you think you could pull her if you were incredibly rich?
  3. I'd imagine the stuff going on behind the scenes right now is proper fascinating like. Alliances and backstabbing and whatnot. Somewhat related, rumour on golf twitter is that Yasir and Tiger Woods had a secret meeting yesterday on Tiger's fishing boat ahead of a PGA/LIV meeting today at PGA headquarters
  4. Think the biggest issue is the idea of just accepting that we weren't going to win any of the cups and then saying being 10th with ten games to go is a good season. Want to make the arguement that given all the injuries we've had it's not that bad a year? That's more than fair. But out of all the cups and 10th at this stage of the year is about as bad as the season could reasonably have been expected to go IMO.
  5. Why would anyone? "We'll get horrendous draws in all the cup competitions and consequently win nowt. Also we'll be 10th with ten games to go. Deal?"
  6. I mean there are obviously a number of reasons that it hasn't been a disaster but no, I wouldn't have taken that

    Harvey Barnes

In hindsight, we should PROBABLY have signed a RW instead.
  8. Good finish tbf. Fucking woeful from Botman.
  9. Jogging around acting like he can afford to jog around.

    Anthony Gordon

That's some truly awful taste in television he's got there
  11. Striker, RW and CB would be the positions I'd go for anyway. Assuming no major outgoings.
  12. Remember the end of last season the fucking havoc we were able to unleash on teams using Isak and Wilson together for the last half hour of games? It adds so much to us having the ability to do that. Our style of play means we're always gonna need to use a healthy amount of rotation, particularly with the front three. So one of Isak or (for example) Toney being on the bench at the start of games isn't unrealistic IMO. I'd also be of the opinion that Isak and a #9 could be used from the start in a lot of games. I know it wasn't particularly effective when tried last season but Howe showed he was willing to try Isak on the left with Wilson central. With the right midfield in place I still think it could very much be an option for us. Think there'd be more than enough minutes for Isak and a top CF. And that's in the best case scenario where everyone stays fit.
  13. I was on an aeroplane for the first half of the Spurs game last season

Chance was so easy he fell over
  15. Ideally you want a DOF type trying to sign players for the future while the manager is more focused on the needs of the first team. Issue is that Ashworth was spending huge money on these young players from Premier League clubs, not unearthing the likes of Caicedo and MacAllister like he was at Brighton. Neither of those two cost a pittance, they were decent money given the leagues they came from. But a far cry from what you pay shopping for young English players who have impressed in PL action. Minteh is really the only signing we made in that bracket under Ashworth. We tried for a few others like Santos and Perrone but couldn't get those deals done.
